The Manage Returns area is a great tool however there seems to be a little flaw.
When a customer requests a return Amazon automatically generates a return RMA and a pre-paid return label that is sent to the customer. Once this happens the return appears in the Manage Returns area with a tracing number.
The trouble is Amazon indicates the return is “In Transit” as soon as the customers prepaid return label is generated. Just because a label is generated does not mean the package it is going on is “In Transit”. In transit means it is within control of the carrier (USPS or UPS, etc) and it is moving within the carriers system.
Amazon should not indicate that the package is “In Transit” just because the label was generated. It should be marked as “Label Generated”, then once the label is scanned by USPS or UPS it should rightfully be indicated as “In Transit”.
This issue causes a lot of extra work and unreliable information for sellers. The customer and seller would be better served if the information posted was factual and not vague.
Other than that Bravo Amazon! It’s awesome!
The indicator I go by is when a return is scanned by the shipper & the pprepaid is charged to my account.
Our accounts aren’t charged until the return is scanned in as in transit.
