Amazon opened another marketplace I have not applied for

I'm curious if anyone experienced where you find another marketplace (in this case in "Brazil") added to your USA marketplace. Even more surprising is that neither I (or anyone in our company) ever recall ever applying to sell in Brazil. Matter of fact, no one in our company can even speak Portuguese.

Nevertheless, I reached out to Amazon seller support (USA) on the issue to have our Brazil marketplace account closed. Seller support advised that I reach out to the Brazil marketplace on the subject which I have and I received a response that from Amazon Brazil that I had to do the following:

"Submit all pending orders.

Cancel all your offers to delete them from Amazon.

Resolve all your transactions with customers and issue all necessary refunds.

Confirm that the bank details on file are valid to receive a final payment.

If you're a Professional seller, switch to an Individual selling plan so you don't have to pay the rest of the subscription."

I let them know that I have not listed a product (not 1 product) for sale in Brazil or received an order (not 1 order) from Brazil, nor do I even recall opening a Brazil account (never). But Amazon Brazil sent me the the same response above (the 2nd time around).

It seems that no one in Amazon (Brazil) is looking into the issue? It's even more frustrating to have to contact Seller Support from another country that opened a marketplace account without our knowledge or direct permission and being given the run around because I simply want to close our Amazon Brazil account.

Is this something that happened to you without your prior knowledge?

Yes, it's a "thing." And it can be a bad thing if not handled properly.

So, before you do ANYTHING else, search the forums for this topic and be guided accordingly.

STOP -- do not attempt or even ask about closing that platform. One: it cannot be done. Two: it may be fatal to your existing account if somebody at Amazon who doesn't know better tries.

Put it on vacation. You may still have to provide deposit / charge method or have a warning flag on your existing account.

Make sure that no listings have been added there.

When you create a listing -- if you use the online interface, be very aware of the bottom of the screen. Disable Brazil so listings are not added there.

In case you missed it:

DO NOT ASK AMAZON TO REMOVE OR CLOSE BRAZIL!!! DO NOT EVEN ASK IF IT CAN BE DONE!!!

Just put it on vacation, delete any listings there, and forget about it.

BUT DO NOT ASK AMAZON TO CLOSE BRAZIL!!! THEY WILL RESPOND BY CLOSING YOUR ENTIRE AMAZON ACCOUNT.

Hello there, my name is CR and wanted to quickly hop in here. You have received a lot of great information by fellow community members above.

As mentioned, you do not want to close your account, this could cause irreversible issues as Brazil is tied to the North American Unified Account.

You can read more information about that here, but the best thing to do is remove any listings from that location and put it on vacation mode.

I apologize for the frustration that this has caused, and please do know we are providing seller feedback on this and will note this as well.
