Has anyone gotten a scam phone call? or new scam?

I just got a phone call from a “martha”.
Caller id said washington state.
She said my amazon account was compromised and that my account was under review.
Of course…as she put me in panic mode…
as many suspended sellers now get a phone call first.
I told her that I did not try to access my account from new devices.
She wanted to walk me through verifying my account.
I then started questioning her so she could prove who she was.
otherwise I would tell her nothing.
After getting defensive…she told me she would email me.
I called amazon and they said it was not from them.
Has anyone heard of this before?
I have not seen it posted.

I’ve been receiving spam emails from an address visually similar to Amazon Seller Support saying they need me to log in and verify information. Of course, the site it sends you to looks like Amazon, but won’t have your password saved from your browser so it’s obviously a phishing scam.

Sorry to hear it, Debranator :bouquet: … they’re crafty. “Martha” was the name of the sham buyer in the textbook seller sting :persevere: of Fall 2018. That apparently was Amazon. But anyone can read this forum and pick that up just to add that extra bit of frisson to feed our jitters. Jeepers.

I haven’t gotten the phone calls yet but I have been hacked once thru Amazon’s Messages and now that I know what to look for, I get those emails every so often and can recognize them. The latest two “phishing” attemp’s that are non-Amazon have been from Fake Paypal claiming that my account needs to be re-authorized and another that my payment method needs to be updated(credit card) or I need to put cash into my Paypal asap(their link of course!). It is to the point of ridiculousness!

Its going to get worse folks. I’ve been getting such calls from automated answering machines which says they are from IRS, and now the same automated machine says that my social security number has been clocked and that I’ll not be able to avail my social security benefits, etc, and that if I want to talk to someone about it then press 1. All crap calls !!

We do not take phone calls from numbers we do not know or unfamiliar with. If it is important enough they will leave a voicemail.

If you get a call like this, ask them why they think you sell on Amazon.
