At Day 1 of Amazon Accelerate, we announced new set of generative artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities that will make it faster and easier for you to list new products as well as enrich existing listings.
AI-generated listing content for new listings
We’ve made new generative AI capabilities available to you to reduce the work it takes to create compelling product titles, bullet points and descriptions.
The new capabilities use large language models (LLMs) – a type of machine learning model specifically trained on insights and metrics that can recognize, summarize, translate, predict, and generate text and other content – to build more comprehensive product descriptions.
When you create a new single-product listing, you only need to provide a brief description of the product in a few words or sentences, and we’ll generate high-quality content for your review. You can refine it if you want to, or directly submit the automatically generated content to the Amazon catalog.
These AI listing capabilities are now available to all US sellers. To get started, go to Add Products and create a new listing.
Improving existing listings to increase customer confidence
We’ll also enrich your existing listings to ensure your products have all the details that customers want, to help you drive more sales. We’ll use AI to automatically generate missing attributes, and improve titles, bullet points, and descriptions, based on insights and metrics in Amazon’s catalog. You’ll be able to review any changes, and make edits if desired.
This capability will be available to you soon. Stay tuned for updates.
To learn more, go to About Amazon.
Instead of all this money spent on AI, which has been an epic fail for Amazon time and again (think bots that dont think very well), why not have some well trained customer service BOTH on the customer and seller side.
Could you not Amazon?
it was bad enough when you screwed up brand registry to bring in all the chinese sellers from Alibaba.
What could go wrong? I assume we would be immune from account actions and lawsuits due to incorrect and misleading product data?
This in no way will lead to further ensh*ttification of the platform, and none of the data in the LLM could possibly lead to IP infringement. Can Amazon at least tell us where they seeded their data from, and what their response would be if someone scraped all of Amazon.com, put the data in a blender, and b*rfed it up on another platform?
Amazon AI is horrible so far. They flipped some switch several weeks ago and started changing our Product Types to what their AI thinks they should be. We sell auto parts and Amazon has changed our Product Types into crazy things like; Bras, Cabinets, BottleRacks, etc...
This causing our listing to lose the vehicle fitment tool, so customers can no longer pick their Year Make and Model to confirm fitment. It also puts on some stupid attributes that in no way relate to car parts, like clothing material or how to take care of a Bottle Rack.
We have spoken to other auto part sellers and they are all facing the same thing. It is costing us millions.
We have contacted Amazon hundreds of times but get not help. They tell us to upload a template and it does not work. They have tried upload template for us and it does not work. They tell us to send them the list via a case but once we do it they say they can only change 15 at a time.... We have hundreds of thousands of SKUS... 15 at a time is not manageable.
@Seller_hvvNUJjgodXWj
Also selling auto parts. We had same issue. Bullet points, attributes, etc have all been screwed up by the AI. Items that are black plastic now say chrome finish, car parts are now labeled as fitting trucks.
Amazon, much offense intended, your AI is crap. And your lying, we have no ability to edit these changes. We opened multiple cases with Amazon to correct this issues.
Whats scary is the amount of thumbs up this post has received. You guys have no idea what your in for. Think about how "well" Amazon has worked for you. Now imagine a crappy Ai system changing your listing without any approval or sense.
Here are just two examples of your fabulous AI in action. Not for a motorcycle and definitely DEFINITELY not stainless steel.
@SEAmod@Topher_Amazon
@SEAmod@Topher_Amazon@Emet_Amazon
Also, still referring to my two examples above, what happens when a customer returns an item because the listing shows stainless steel thanks to your AI system.
Now I am on the hook because you screwed it up? Of course I am. I would not expect anything less.
Can AI fix the current amazon catalogue problem first? Random product type change. Random attribute filled. HORRIBLE image downsizing.
Just did a listing and no AI options. Why fix things that are not broken. programmers trying to stay relevant I guess.
The problem is, to build quality AI applications requires top-notch software engineers and more. Amazon has second and third rate software engineers at best, given they pay much less than the top-rate employers. Amazon programmers can't do simple tasks well (not to mention they don't test their code properly before it goes live on the site) ... do you really trust them to build these kinds of applications??
I for one DO NOT. In the least.
