Damaged inventory ownership?

So the customer returns a heavily used and damaged item and orders a free replacement.

I file a claim with Amazon.

Amazon refuses to refund:

Hello from Amazon Selling Partner Support,

We see that you have contacted us regarding facing issues with customer where they returned heavily used and damaged item.

Amazon does not accept responsibility and will not reimburse you for returned items that are damaged by a customer, are subject to recall, are defective or in violation of Amazon policies, or for other similar reasons.

By enrolling in Damaged Inventory Ownership, you agree to be the damage-fault owner for enrolled damaged inventory; hence you will not be reimbursed for this inventory.

Is this now an infinite, free-of-charge supply of products for customers?

Hello @Seller_v2bkIPsWJQHOnand thank you for seeking some insight on the forums.

I am sorry to hear about your receiving of a damaged return. If this was through Amazon FBA, and your account is enrolled in FBA Damaged Inventory Ownership, then the details from that page, and these terms and conditions would apply. If you determine that any changes are needed to your enrollment, there are instructions on the help page for unenrolling.

If this was instead an order fulfilled by the seller, you can look to the SAFE-T Claim process for possible reimbursement.

Best,

Danny
