So tired of Amazon’s fraudulent attitude towards sellers. A specific example:
We sent a customer an item with the declared size of 10x7x3 (the actual size of the package was 9x7x1/2). We paid $4.31 for the label through Amazon. The order was returned, and we paid $4.31 for the return label. But a month later, an additional $4.19 was charged supposedly for the return shipment.
This is absolute nonsense to charge $8.50 for a package measuring 9x7x1/2 and weighing 4 oz. EVEN IN THE PAYMENT IT SAYS THE SIZE IS THE SAME AS DECLARED (Carrier Audited Dimensions=Customer Entered Dimensions). BUT SUPPORT SAYS EVERYTHING IS IN ORDER. (id 15600511621)
AMAZON, HELLO, THIS IS BLATANT THEFT OF MY MONEY!
Sounds a little strange. Each sale and return is handled in the transaction number of the sale. The return postage and refund is all processed at once, then the transaction is closed out.
Duh you dont become the richest company in the world without screwing several somebodies or entities.
This is a major issue almost every FBM seller is facing these days, all of the carriers are doing it.
It's a disgrace and is exactly what you described it as "blatant theft"
A quick search on the forums shows some sellers receiving 5 figure adjustments on top of what they already paid.
Expect legal action to be taken against them all for boosting their profits at the expense of American Small Business Owners.
Hello, Is the same to me, The last month they charged an additional $7.800 AND SUPPORT SAYS EVERYTHING IS IN ORDER. also I make many test and it is the same.
Hello, Is the same to me, The last month they charged $1.220 AND SUPPORT SAYS EVERYTHING IS IN ORDER. No body get a right answer.
The worst thing is that they tell me Carrier Audited Dimensions is the same as Entered Dimensions. So WHY AMAZON charged?
We have had over $800.00 in adjustment fees for shipping here lately. I dont know how they can say what the package size and weight is if they HAVE NEVER SEEN OR TOUCHED THE PACKAGE since we send FBM straight to the customer. I agree this is THEFT !!!
Is this another "error " like the SEEDS / PLANTS debacle?
I think The largest company would get their act together
Hello @Seller_4VpMiejZYi2RL
Carrier shipping correction charges do not originate from Amazon. They are charges from the carriers that Amazon passes through to sellers.
If this was a return shipped USPS, as it looks like it was based on your screenshot, the carrier-audited information may not be accurate. Return shipment details are not available in Seller Central, so while the display shows that as matching the customer-entered information, that is not always accurate. The team is aware of this bad experience and is working to improve it.

Hello @Seller_4VpMiejZYi2RL
Carriers may charge or credit you after the package is shipped in the form of Carrier adjustments. None of these charges come from Amazon. They are charges from the carriers that Amazon is referencing to you.
The team is working on being able to make more information about carrier adjustments available in Seller Central.
I checked your case and see that your disputes have been escalated to our partner team for review. I will continue to monitor those cases for updates.
One possible cause of the adjustments is that the returns were shipped back in different/larger packaging than was originally used for the outbound shipment. Shipping-correction charges may be applied if the package that the item is returned in is larger or smaller than reported on the shipment. If that was not the case, please let me know.
You can read more about carrier adjustments in our seller help page:
I looked at the entry details you posted above and it does look like 3 postage charges, but looking at the actual amounts posted, it looks to me like the total charge to AND from the customer came to $8.50. Because you already paid $4.31 for the original outbound shipping, they deducted that from the $8.50 total to get to $4.19. Just looking at the numbers, it doesn't appear you were overcharged, unless you weren't supposed to pay return shipping.
Maybe I am missing something, though.
Probably unrelated: Why did you round up 1/2" to 3"?
Yep. This is a shady little situation Amazon has worked out with the delivery services. No doubt kickbacks are involved.
I received a back charge from a delivery. The box was 7" X 7" X 7". The box weighed 3.9lbs.
I entered the label dimensions as 8" X 8" X 8". I entered the weight at 4.15lbs. I did this just to prevent this type of problem. Little good it did!
Then a week later I received an additional charge of $60.
So now we are starting to videotape the process. We are videotaping the packaging of select packages and then putting the package (label up) on the scale so the weight can easily be seen. I am not sure yet what I'll do with the videos. But I may some day get a lawyer involved. This is grounds for a lawsuit. And its more than just occasional error. This is fraud.
Amazon and the delivery services are well aware of the fact that they have third party sellers in a bind. They play monkey in the middle with us and run us around in circles trying to tire us out. Hoping we will give up. Amazon says "what can we do? It is the delivery service. Talk to them." Then the delivery service will say "postage was purchased using Amazon's account. You must talk to them about this."
