“Warning” UPS is stealing money out of your account with “adjustment” fees and they are showing up on your payments dashboard as “other fees”. Do not ship through UPS Amazon buy shipping

I have 67 UPS adjustments for $22.90 totaling $1,534 within 2 weeks. They are called “adjustments” on the “transaction view” page. I am a small business and can not afford these false adjustments.

I contacted seller support (case#16959896231) for one of these adjustments. They showed me a “transaction details” page that shows UPS doubled the weight that my package actually weighed and adjusted my label charge by 4x. I had no idea UPS had the ability to falsely charge accounts.

The most disappointing part is my packages weigh 8-12 oz and I purchase labels for 15oz so this wouldn’t happen. I purchase labels for 15oz and Amazon sends us labels that have “1 LBS” printed on the top. I would think that I have a label good for shipping a 1 pound package even though my packages are only 9-12oz.

I have proudly served Amazons customers faithfully for 10 years. We all purchase buy shipping through Amazon so we can be protected from false claims. We need Amazon to support all of us and defend these false claims.

Here is one example. The other 66 adjustments are all similar.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Can I please get a moderators help? @Manny_Amazon @Michelle_Amazon @SEAmod @Atlas_Amazon @Dominic_Amazon @Steve_Amazon @Roxy_Amazon @Cooper_Amazon @TaylorR_Amazon @Stevie_Amazon @Topher_Amazon @Jessica_Amazon @Jessica_Amazon_ @Seller_kIukTwdhvntAp @Seller_Hi7wbO2Kbo6bl

There are not false adjustments. UPS uses dimensional weight to determine billable shipping cost. This means dimensionally large but light weight items are not cost effective via UPS.

The better question I have is why are you shipping a sub 1 lbs item via UPS for $12 when literally any other service like USPS Ground Advantage or even Priority Mail would be far less expensive.

You sure it is UPS and not Amazon making these adjustments?

Are we sure your item is sitting on the scan correctly? It seems like a very small scale for that large of an item. If the item is touching any lip of the display area it will give you a false weight. The item would now be slightly held up by the plastic lip and not sitting completely on the scale part itself.

The Dimesional weight of the 9 x9 x4 package is 2.33 lbs

9x9x4 = 324 Divided/139 = 2.33 lbs

They are charging for dimensional weight...

UPS started this about 3-4 years ago... give the best price and then measure

and charge by dimensional weight ...

Hello @Seller_32ZMm9zfeBF6v Thank you for sharing the Case ID and adjustment details here in the forums. I reviewed the details and can share the following information.

Carrier shipping correction charges do not originate from Amazon. They are charges from the carriers that Amazon passes through to sellers.

Additional handling surcharges apply to "Any package with an outer shipping container not made of corrugated cardboard, including but not limited to canvas, leather, metal, wood, hard plastic, soft plastic (such as plastic bag) or expanded polystyrene foam (styrofoam)."

If you are shipping your packages with outer plastic bags, as in your photos, that is subject to the above surcharge.

UPS Ground shipments have a minimum actual weight of one pound. However, as was suggested, dimensional weight may be a factor, and I asked our partner team to review the shipment/adjustment details.

In the meantime it's probably in your best interest to not shrink wrap the packages if they're being audited as "plastic bag" packaging. The counter person at the UPS store doesn't know all the specific rules (most are hourly workers since UPS Customer Centers which had union long term UPS employees are now shuttered nationally), they just scan your packages and pass them off to the driver. They're getting you on a technicality, just do your best to avoid that.

Another great reason NEVER to use Amazon's UPS shipping. Aside from NO ability to appeal "adjustments" (since you are NOT the shipper of record) if you had a lost package or damaged shipment you are still NOT the shipper of record and Amazon will NOT help you.

If you ship via UPS set up your own account. They may still adjust what you pay, but you will have appeal rights.

As for Amazon's "theft" of your money, UPS rules require you to round up to the next whole pound. So a 9 oz or a 15 oz package still must be declared as 1-pound. You could file for arbitration but would probably lose.
