How does it make sense Amazon charges long-term storage fees on MCF inventory?

I regularly received emails from Amazon asking me to use MCF, promoting it as the best service for fulfillment.

I made the mistake of trusting them and sent inventory in. Then they start charging me long-term storage fees. I don't see how that makes any sense because I never had any intention of selling this inventory on Amazon yet they are charging me a fee designed for FBA.

They are getting the storage fees and the per unit shipment fee, which makes sense because I'd otherwise pay my 3PL that. But my 3PL would never charge me long-term storage fees.

So basically I feel like I got sucked in, sent them my inventory and then they come up with this new fee that should only apply to products sold within Amazon. Makes no sense. If this does not change it is just greed.

Why does it not make sense? Why would it matter if you intended to sell it on Amazon or not; you should expect to pay storage fees. And if it sits there taking up space for a long time, without generating any revenue for Amazon (through orders, whether FBA or MCF), it makes sense to get charged the higher LTSF. Amazon doesn't care how they will collect the fees when it goes out the door, but meanwhile your inventory will be subject to the same rules as everyone else's.

The key is in the name; MCF (or FBA) is for fulfillment, not storage.

Hey @Seller_CTeSuDwxPx6WM, I hear your frustration. It sounds like MCF might not be for you. You can unenroll by opening a case with Seller Support.

If you would like to read about the fees, check out this help page: Multi-Channel Fulfillment Fees. Let me know if you have any specific questions!
