Your account is being auto-enrolled to Automated Handling Time

After Amazon telling us last year that they were changing the default handling time and removing our ability to globally reset it, we had to WASTE hours upon hours over multiple days to reset OUR handline time by each SKU.

Today we receive this B-S email:

Dear Seller

Your account has been selected to be auto-enrolled in Automated Handling Time (AHT). This change will occur on May 15th with no action required on your behalf.

Automated Handling Time will set more accurate Handling Times for each of your Fulfilled by Merchant (FBM) offers. With this upgrade your offers will have a more accurate delivery date, which is normally shorter and more appealing to buyers, typically resulting in more sales.

When Automated Handling Time is enabled, your ship-by date will be automatically adjusted for every SKU based on the actual time it has historically taken you to pack and ship confirm orders of that SKU.

Your account was selected for this upgrade because your Actual Handling Time is 2.6 days faster than what you had configured in your settings. This made your delivery dates unnecessarily long, making your offers seem less appealing to customers.

Worried about your account health?

For the first 90 days after this change, your Late Shipment Rate (LSR) will not be impacted if you have a late shipment because Automated Handling Time set a faster Handling Time than your original configuration.

Additionally, you now have the ability to set your Order Handling Capacity when AHT is enabled. This feature sets a limit for how many orders you can handle in a day. Once this limit is reached you get an additional day of Handling Time for every subsequent order. Click to learn more

After Automated Handling Time is enabled, if you prefer to manually set your Handling Time per SKU, watch this video to learn how. After you configure your SKU-specific Handling Time, you can disable Automated Handling Time on your Handling Time Settings.

Thank you.

GET THIS AMAZON - only we know our business and how long we may need to process an order. LEAVE our handling time alone. We are NOT interested in your changing OUR setting. We have NEVER had a customer state that they received an item too fast.

And to the MODS - we know you have NO power to do anything and your only job is to be condescending and prevent us from filing for arbitration by making "suggestions" that would doom an arbitration case if we followed them. Want to do something constructive - tell your bosses NOT to "auto-enroll" us in anything. We have been in business since 1969 and have forgotten more about OUR business than Amazon could ever hope to learn or to make any constructive suggestions.

I've posted this in other responses but it actually works to lessen any problems from Amazon about 'late' shipments --

I have used the Amazon shipping limits successfully for almost a year (maybe longer now) to solve this atrocity. My wife and I like to take a day (or two, maybe three) off every couple weeks.

Go in and set your 'order capacity' to ONE! When you do that every new order gets the 'ship by ' date pushed out an extra day!

At worst you will only get one "late" order a day by doing that. I did that when we went away back in November and here was the 'ship by' date results!

I came back to a ‘normal’ number of orders but here is what happened to the ship by dates as the orders came in –

Ship by date: Nov 3, 2023 to Nov 6, 2023

Ship by date: Nov 3, 2023 to Nov 7, 2023

Ship by date: Nov 3, 2023 to Nov 8, 2023

Ship by date: Nov 3, 2023 to Nov 9, 2023

Ship by date: Nov 3, 2023 to Nov 10, 2023

Ship by date: Nov 3, 2023 to Nov 10, 2023

Ship by date: Nov 3, 2023 to Nov 13, 2023

Ship by date: Nov 3, 2023 to Nov 14, 2023

and THEN it got weird even for Amazon —

Ship by date: Nov 15, 2023 to Nov 16, 2023

Ship by date: Nov 15, 2023 to Nov 17, 2023

Ship by date: Nov 15, 2023 to Nov 20, 2023

Ship by date: Nov 15, 2023 to Nov 21, 2023

Ship by date: Nov 15, 2023 to Nov 22, 2023

ALSO, be prepared for this type of BULL with their automated settings -- I tried it and saw fewer orders because of this. An order going less than 100 miles and the PO saying a 2 day delivery but AMAZON says 12 days!!!!

Hello @Seller_24FzucbyGtgZS. Thanks for checking in with the forums about Automated Handling Time.

I understand that some sellers prefer not to participate in the program, and the email you received contains information on how to opt out if that's what you prefer. Please check back if you have any questions or issues with that process.

I love how they make a big deal about it not affecting your metrics is this change screws you over.

But they never mention that shipping late will still cause them to not cover INR.

THIS.... A million times THIS!!!! We are a handmade shop and Amazon changed our processing times to 2 days! We have to actually MAKE the product! Why does Amazon think they know better than we do how much time we need to process an order? We set those times for a reason!

So I need to ship on the last possible day? Got it.

Would like to say I'm surprised, but I'm really not. Silly us for shipping ahead of schedule while leaving room for unexpected events/delays to not only have good service but avoid getting low metrics and banned.

(heads off to list more on competitor sites)

That you @Seller_24FzucbyGtgZS @Seller_kIukTwdhvntAp @Seller_xwzQL0khly72e and all other sellers who shared their opinions regarding Automated Handling Time (AHT).

I am continuing to share comments and suggestions with our partner team, including posts from sellers who reported receiving the notification despite previously opting out of AHT.
