Hello,
Can someone kindly clarify what address should be provided when adding a legal entity to your Amazon Seller account given this situation:
Background:
- The account was originally created under my personal information as I was getting started. I have since gotten a Single-Member LLC (USA) and plan to add it as the legal entity on the seller account.
- The LLC's offical registered address is my parents address as it is a more reliable, permanant address while I am currently moving frequently while renting post-college. Having my parents address as a more permanant address for the LLC while I am moving frequently is a common practice for LLC's in WI and is recommended in my situation.
- My business operating address, the addrress I have been using on my Amazon Seller Account, is my primary place of residence (where I rent) which is what Amazon requires to provide on the account for address verification in the "Business Address and Phone Number" section.
Question:
In the Legal Entity setup on Seller Central, it asks for the "Registered Business Address". I assume this is asking for the LLC's offical registerd address. However, the info pop-up next to this entry line says: "Registered Business Address" i.e this address represents your primary place of business (e.g. head office or branch) where you receive services from Amazon, and for individuals, this represents your usual place of residence. Your registered business address will be displayed on your public seller profile page."
This description seems to suggest the "Registered Business Address" that I should provided in the Legal Entity section is the Operating Address, not specifically the Offical Registered Address of the LLC. Can someone please verify this? I reached out to support to confirm but did not get a clear answer.
Additionally, I see that:
- In the Tax Interview on Seller Central, it says that "Your Tax classification can be "Individual" if you're either an Individual, or Sole Proprietor, or an LLC that is a disregarded entity owned by an individual." So, given that my LLC is a Single-Member LLC, I would be taxed as an "Individual" in this situation. With this, and reviewing the above "Registered Business Address" info pop-up description noting "for individuals, this represents your usual place of residence", does this mean I use my residental address (where I rent from, aka my Operating Address) as my Registered Business Address in the Legal Entiy entry on Amazon? Or, do I use my LLC's offical registered address in this section?
- I also see that there is a specific section on Amazon to enter a "Offical Registered Address" where the business is legally registered. Seeing this different spot to enter my LLC's official registered address, makes me unsure what is being asked for in the Legal Entity "Registered Business Address" section.
Concern:
My concern is that if I enter my LLC's registered address in the Legal Entity "Registered Business Address" section, then that will make it seem that this LLC address is my operating address (which is a different address), which would be an issue for future identity verification since I only have utility bills and other documents with my name on them for where I rent (operate the business).
Clarification on this would be grately appreacted if anyone can kindly share their experience on this. Thank you very much for your help.
Sincerely,
