UPS and Placement Fees

Yesterday I shipped a box of 100 products for a shipping cost of $12.12. Today I am sending a duplicate of the same box, and now Amazon wants $23 for a placement fee and UPS wants $16 to ship it, for a total of over $40. For the same box of 100 items. Unsustainable to quadruple pricing overnight. Mods??? We do all the prep and no labeling is required at Amazon.

The new inbound placement fee has zero impact on Chinese sellers. Here is a screenshot of charging zero placement fees to Chinese sellers when a shipment is sent to a single US location. All they have to pay is an ocean shipping fee of $226.29 for one pallet. Also see the link below.

Our send-to-Amazon cost now has increased on average 160% per unit due to ridiculous Placement fee. They reduce a bit of fulfilment fee but increase significantly send-to-Amazon fee which is also charged per unit.

i use to send same amount of parcels for 50 60 dollors now they asking to pay $180 for the same number of parcels . thats crazy . So i thought ok theyre splitting these parcels how about i just send one and they do not actually have to split my shipment and it wont charge me the placement fee . guess what . they will want to split my one parcel and adding placement fee same as shipping fee . i am 100% going to stop using fba services .

Hi @Seller_0D3VGuKcH4QUw,

Dominic from Amazon here, this is the inbound placement service fee that went into effect on March 1. The FBA inbound placement service fee for standard and large bulky sized products reflects the cost of distributing inventory to fulfillment centers close to customers. The fee is effective as of March 1, 2024.

When you create a shipping plan, you can select one of the following inventory inbound placement options:

  • Minimal shipment splits: You can send your inventory to the minimal number of inbound locations, generally to a single location, and we will spread inventory across our network on your behalf, for a fee. The fee may vary by inbound location—for example, there may be higher fees for shipments sent to locations in the West versus other parts of the country.
  • Partial or Amazon-optimized shipment splits: Send your inventory to multiple inbound locations yourself for a reduced or no fee. The reduced fees will depend on the number of shipments and inbound locations that you send your inventory to. For instance, if your shipping plan qualifies, you can select the inbound placement option to send your inventory to the optimal number of inbound locations recommended by Amazon, generally four or more locations, and pay no fee. If you select the placement option in which you send your inventory to a partial number of inbound locations, generally two or three, you will pay a reduced fee.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Dominic

Just tried to send my first FBA shipment to Amazon after I got a warning email from buyability-improvement that I needed to send more inventory today or I would have my unit slapped by a ruler.

I cannot believe this outrageous new placement fee.

Now I have to pay more to ship to the furthest warehouse facility from my home and pay even more for placement fees.

Guess what Amazon mods, I have now have no choice but to cancel my FBA inventory shipment. Next step will be to close my Seller Central account entirely after the waiting period is up.

In case you were wondering about how much abuse your sellers can take. This is the final straw. I'm sick of being nickel and dimed by Amazon and your paying for returns for your customers. I am so done with this.

Delete workflow. Good Bye.
