Hey mods,
Trying to get authorization to sell a brand. They are telling me the UPC doesn't match the brand name but I confirmed that it does.
Case ID is 17547145521
@Manny_Amazonor @Dougal_Amazonyou guys have helped me out really well in the past. Can I get another assist? Thanks!
"Trying to get authorization to sell a brand."
Start at the very beginning --
More and more frequently Amazon is taking a TWO STEP approach and you are probably caught with not doing one of the steps (or either one!)
DO YOU have an LOA from the brand allowing you to sell on here?
More and more brands are providing a "whitelist" of their approved sellers and if YOU are NOT on the list you will be stopped in your tracks and probably hit with an IP violation.
DID YOU source from AUTHORIZED wholesale sources that your rep at the brand says are OK? You DO have a sales rep at the brand, don't you?
"They are telling me the UPC doesn't match the brand name but I confirmed that it does. "
Do you mean that you verified on GS1 that the UPC number is registered to the COMPANY that owns the brand?
Have you done a search of ASINs for that UPC number? Does it show up there as being sold by the BRAND?
In the deep dark past Amazon was terribly sloppy and did NOT verify if the OWNER was creating ASINs and doing it correctly. It may be that a SELLER created the ASIN and claimed to be the BRAND!
I have several dozen items from a major brand in the industry that were hijacked by one of their distributors that claimed to be the brand owner. Now the brand is finding it next to impossible to get that fixed because they don't want to pi$# off the distributor.
If the "brand" is NOT the actual brand owner you will see that conflict and it is up to the brand to get it fixed.
You write a kind email to the brand owner and ask him a "Letter of Authorization" allowing you to sell his brand on Amazon. At the same time ask him for the list of his Authorized Distributors to buy from.
As for the UPC: go to the website of GS1, put the UPC in the search and look if THAT brand is the owner.
Hello @Seller_jmtuZ83M952ok,
Thanks for reaching out. I have reviewed your ASIN in the case you provided, however, the UPC that you provided is not for the brand you want to sell. The UPC per the GS1 website, which is the only official site for registered UPC's belongs to Multicom Publishing Incorporated. You can read more regarding valid UPC's on Amazon here. As the UPC does not match the brand, we will not be able to assist in getting your approved to sell this brand. You will need to work with the brand to get a valid UPC to list these items.
I hope this information is helpful.
