Hurricane Helene Shipping/Delivery Impact!!

Our late delivery has dropped below 90% probably the first time ever due to our operation losing power from to hurricane Helene. Then once we got power back - carriers could not pick up due to road conditions. We are in North Carolina. We have been fulfilling back orders since yesterday so I am hoping Amazon can grant us some grace while we continue to deal with the disaster still ongoing in our state. Praying for all those impacted!!

This was just posted by a mod: https://sellercentral.amazon.com/seller-forums/discussions/t/0b9dd601-0f67-4880-af10-894efee016ca?postId=0b9dd601-0f67-4880-af10-894efee016ca

Somehow I doubt Amazon will give FBM merchants the same grace that they are asking for themselves. When I asked earlier this year about what would happen if our operations were impacted by a hurricane, I received this response:

'If there is a major disruption event that impacts all sellers shipping to a specific region, we will not count deliveries that are late as a result in your OTDR. Whether a disruption is considered to be major is a discretionary decision made by Amazon... There are no published guidelines regarding what will be considered a "major" disruption. Whether a disruption is considered to be major is a discretionary decision made by Amazon.'

When such events are on the horizon and there is potential for disruptions for your business, you need to turn your account on vacation mode 2-3 days ahead of time to protect yourself from delivery issues.

Even if your area wasn't impacted, your orders going out to buyers may have been impacted and carriers still wouldn't be able to deliver on time due to the impact in the buyers locations.

Be proactive and put on vacation mode.

Hello @Seller_KxGYFuUowErCr,

Thank you for posting your concerns with your shipping performance.

I am glad yo hear that you and your business are getting back to normal after everything that occurred due to Helene. I hope everyone around you is also doing okay.

When such events are on the horizon and there is potential for disruptions for your business, you need to turn your account on vacation mode 2-3 days ahead of time to protect yourself from delivery issues.

As mentioned by @Seller_tzb0Adb4whsRu, typically when these situations occur we recommend utilizing the vacation settings to ensure your performance is not being impacted by any disruptions, allowing you to recover and start over without these types of concerns.

Since the situation has already occurred, if this is just a warning, please continue to maintain your performance as best you can to clear out older issues and calculations. If you have been requested to address the situation, we will commonly ask that you advise on the situation, including how and why you were impacted by the weather event, we may also ask how you can be more prepared for these types of instances in the future.

Although we may not be able to recalculate the calculation, we do have an understanding of the circumstances and how some things can be out of your control.

The forums community and I are here to support you. Please let us know how we can help you from this point forward.

Emet.
