FBA to FBM after a long FBA seller

Hello everyone, I've been an FBA seller for like 5 years now and realized just recently Amazon has a lot of fees taken from my profit. Including storage, long-term storage, and placement fees, and then they would send back the defect to us but those products were not defective at all and the customer service agent didn't know why they thought it was a defect since I'd been sending the same products before and all were good. I think they can't handle the many products anymore now and the sellers unlike 5 years ago maybe. They keep sending defective items to our house where in fact it's all in good and sellable condition. And I need to pay fees for the placement of those products then all of a suddent the removal as well.

Questions: Is it good to just be FBM alone and no more fba? Or just leave maybe 1 asin there as FBA and the rest are FBM? Is there any caveat if I do all my products FBM??? I have a good ranking and lots of reviews so far and has a good sales volume. Also, is doing FBM should I still run ads like what I am doing with FBM? Lastly, does FBM still have an account level reserve? Thank you so much for those who will help to answer my questions. :)

There is no right or wrong answer; a lot will depend on what you are selling and how much competition there is for it (FBA will get BB over FBM, even with a higher price). A lot of customers want to buy with their Prime account, which means they often don't even see FBM offers.

But depending on the margins, losing a little bit of sales may be more than made up for in reduced fees.

I see no reason to change ad strategy if it's working for you; either FBA or FBM you want to get them to your page.

And yes, there can still be reserves held for FBM.

If you want to test the waters, switch a few of your ASINs over to FBM. This could be a test of how sales change and how that affects bottom line. And by doing only a few, it will let you see how well you handle doing the shipping, and get any kinks worked out before you have to ship ALL of your orders.

For me, I've gone from 100% FBA about 7-8 years ago, to about 95% FBM now. To a large extent, the benefits of FBA (namely getting the BB) rarely make up for the increased fees. But as I say, that will differ greatly depending on your and the competition.
