"Starting on September 30, 2024, new listings will require approved compliance documents to become active"
Surely this doesn't apply to books?
I saw that too. I sincerely hope it doesn't for second-hand books. If so I will be gone !
As I said it's another crazy policy, aimed at ensuring products offered for sale are safe for customers to buy.
Imagine this crazy scenario, someone selling ornaments such as a Ladro figurine, states that the product won't kill anyone & then the buyer or someone in the buyers household gets into an argument & whacks someone over the head with it & kills them.
What would Amazon's response be too that? Oh yes I know "It's the sellers fault because they should of anticipated the ornament could be use as a weapon!"
I have just listed a book that was already on the database. There was no mention of compliance documents.
The book is now "Active" . At least this side of things appears to be ok. Of course we still dont know if we will be able to list books not already on the database.
Even if it turns out that books are completely unaffected by this new policy Amazon are guilty of scaremongering .It shows yet again that they have no idea how to deal with sellers
I have listed a couple of books successfully since then, even sold one of them. I just ignored any boxes I had not previously used and the listing went on ok.... Fingers crossed.
I'm afraid it does apply to some second hand books I tried to list. Confronted by a long list of compliance document I needed to submit I abandoned the attempt in despair
However, it didn't happen every time by any means but I couldn't see a pattern.
Good luck!
Hello @Seller_nT7psArrIHc2I,
I'm Angie, part of the UK forum community. It's a pleasure to greet you.
I understand you have concerns about the banner message related to the compliance document requirements.
As per available help page “Creating new selection with compliance requirements” this won't affect existing compliance policies and products that are already within policy.
I can see some of you have already listed books without any inconvenient, however, I can't confirm which categories or product will be impacted by this.
Regards,
Angie 🌻
