Sales have dropped 90% in the last month

Sales have dropped 90% in the last month. Account health is good, shipping is 100% on time, and no cancellations. What is going on? This is supposed to be Thanksgiving week. Where are the sales???

I have had a similar experience with my FBA (managed by Amazon). I'm fully stocked, have lower prices than the competition, and offer better-looking and higher-quality products, yet my sales are down by 50%. Normally, in 2023, I would have about USD 500-1000 in sales per day. But yesterday, it was 0 (null, nil, nothing, nada).

The long-term issue is that Timo and other competitors are affecting the market. Additionally, Amazon has started to compete with its own sellers, which doesn't explain my product profile. Maybe it's the election. With 36 trillion in national debt, something bad must happen. It's frustrating and confusing for the market.

NOTE: Its similar on my other platforms.

We got 6 high pricing and 3 spurred this week that's about average weekly for last 2 months and our better selling items 340 high pricing listings removed as Amazon continues to pummel toys price fixing items to up to decade old MSRP while purging sales data likely to cover up their wrong doings against sellers over the last few years. Hard to go after the devil if they burn all evidence! This is our peak and still down 40% but that is directly related to the listings buy box has ben removed where Amazon tells customers we are basically scum sellers!

We are in a similar boat. All the while we are experiencing Amazon Shrinkflation (lower sales but higher fees)

Have gone from averaging net cost of sales of 43% to 62% (including advertising)

Am seeing a couple of reasons why:

  • Massively increased competition from low priced sellers
  • More sellers per category (I blame Helium 10 for actively promoting how you can spot best selling products and how to know them off)
  • increased add cost
  • Reduced organic ranking
  • Lower consumer spending

There definitely appears to be a downward shift in sales activity going on over this Holiday period.

I think American shoppers are just too beat up trying to afford their basic necessities with inflation and interest rates.

There are a few websites that track predictive data, like foot traffic. I use one just to gauge how things are going and as you can see below, foot traffice in the retail sector is definitely down. I think this is an indicator of overall shopping behavior.

We all should prepare for a rough time ahead.

I'm experiencing the same. No real explanation. The decrease began the week before the election and continues through today. We've been in business for 15 years, but 5 years with Amazon and have always maintained very competive prices. I'm like everyone here, baffled by the unexplainable decrease in Sales.

I would very much appreciate a reply from an Amazon moderator.

My sales this year are up over last year but I've recently introduced some new products that are boosting sales.

The average American consumer is broke, and Amazon's reputation is quite tarnished among "normal" people/consumers. Have a Merry Christmas everyone.

Both our online sales and Brick and Mortar sales have dropped significantly since about a week before the election. I expected them to pick up this week but so far nothing. I am also noticing the post office across the street from our store, which usually already has lines out the door, has been empty as well. I think a lot of people are buying the bare minimum when it comes to presents this year. It is a bit frightening. I hope business picks up for all of us over the next several weeks.

Are you FBM? if so this is by design, Amazon decided to send all the sales to their own fulfillment centers this year by adding weeks to the estimated delivery dates buyers see for FBM offerings.

If you are FBM, go to one of your listings and put in different zip codes to see how long they are telling customers they will have to wait...for us they are adding 6-8 days in most areas and we have perfect OTDR and metrics.

Seller support and MODS will not help, as this is by design.
