Looking for Seller Tips for Variations in Search Results

I'm curious if anyone had some tips/suggestions for how their variation products show up in the search results. I have a gardening product available in two sizes, with two different price points. So only one will show up in the search results, meaning customers may skip over the listing if they happen to be more focused on a different size or price point. I could separate these listings of course, but I think the combined reviews and BSR really help push me up in the search results, at least while one variation is still relatively new.

One thing that comes to mind is changing the title in both variations to mention something like "available in small or large". Another idea, which I'm not sure how to best execute, is to have it obvious in the photo. I see some clothing images show different colors in the corner of the hero image, which makes it more obvious the listing has color variations.. but I'm not sure how I'd handle that with a different size and price variation.

Anyway I just wanted to open up a conversation and see if anyone had some tips and tricks for situations like this. Any insight is appreciated :)

Hi @Seller_DPetgMN6a9UZU,

The help page "Determine variations for your products" could be a useful starting point. If you haven’t come across it yet, here’s the link: https://sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/G201958220

From your post, I wasn’t entirely sure if “two sizes” refers to the exact same product in different sizes or if there are other differences. If the products vary beyond size, they may not meet Amazon’s criteria for a variation listing, which could resolve the decision for you.

Regarding showing multiple product versions in the main image, it’s important to note that this would violate Amazon’s image policy. You can find the details under "Main product images" on this page: https://sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/G1881#mnd_2jc_jcb__section_wvq_wwd_qyb. While you might see other sellers doing this, such listings often get flagged over time. If Amazon takes the listing offline or hides it from search due to a policy violation, you risk losing sales and rankings—especially painful if you’ve invested heavily in marketing to build up those rankings.

Now, about the trade-off between splitting listings versus keeping them as variations: Keeping them as variations usually works better. Reviews and sales data combine for the parent listing, which often results in higher search rankings and improved visibility. Additionally, a higher combined review count can significantly boost the click-through rate (CTR), drawing more visitors to your product page.

When analyzing sales data, page views (or sessions) often emerge as the strongest predictor of conversions. Without clicks, there’s no chance to convert—sounds simple, but keeping this principle in mind can guide a lot of strategic decisions.

Wishing you success with your listings!

Kind regards, Michael

Hi @Seller_DPetgMN6a9UZU,

Thanks for reaching out. I see that @Seller_i6S8knzW6zU6Z has provided you with some great information. You will want to ensure that you follow the style guide for your specific category to ensure that you within policy for your category. You want to ensure that your main image does not have text or show products that are not included with your ASIN, as that is a violation of the Image Requirements as stated by @Seller_i6S8knzW6zU6Z. I have reviewed a few of your ASIN's and would recommend that you review your main images of your products and correct the ones that are not complaint.

If you have any specific questions, please reach out to Seller Support and provide them with the ASIN's you are concerned about. If you need additional help after they investigate, please reply back to this post with your case ID and we will be happy to take a look.

Wishing you the best in your sales!

Michelle
