Understanding "ships from" and sold by" inventory with Amazon
After seeing questions on this topic recently, we wanted to create a thread to cover important terms related to “ships from” and “sold by” inventory with Amazon. Let me know if this content is helpful with a thumbs up or down!
Here are some key terms to understand:
- “Sold by Amazon” means Amazon bought the stock from the brand or manufacturer and sells it directly to customers. There is a Vendor Central site for this, which is an invitation-only platform for manufacturers and distributors who are looking to sell their products to Amazon as a wholesale supplier.
- “Sold by X” (brand or manufacturer or approved distributor) sells to customers on amazon.com.
- “Shipped by Amazon” means the brand or manufacturer stocks their products in an Amazon fulfillment center and has Amazon ship it to customers.
- “Shipped by X” means the brand or manufacturer (or approved distributor) ships directly to customers.
