Review updated bullet point requirements to optimize your listings

Effective August, 15, 2024, we're updating our existing product bullet point requirements to simplify and enhance product detail pages for customers.

Key changes include the following:

  • Restriction of special characters, emojis, and some phrases, such as refund-related guarantees.
  • Guidance to help you create high-quality bullet points that are clear and concise.

These updates will help customers quickly compare products and determine whether an item meets their needs. Standardized bullet points enable customers to easily find and assess the key features and benefits, and they empower customers to make informed purchase decisions.

In addition to our existing review processes, we'll use generative artificial intelligence (AI) to help us optimize listing quality. We'll remove non-compliant content and use AI to generate compliant, high-quality bullet points. We'll share any AI-generated quality-related improvements with you for review before we publish them to your listings.

So as the registered brand owner, manufacturer of the products and holders of the patent/trademarks who can't update their own listings to show the most up to date information and pictures you are going to continue to force this AI crap that no one asked for or wants and worse you now intend to "fix our listings for us.

Do you know it took me an average of 5 contacts to amazon seller support per day for two weeks to get the picture corrected that your AI changed from a 10ft long bright yellow industrial panel saw to a router bit less than 2 inches long that we don't sell. Your AI insisted over and over again that not only did it have the right picture but that the company that makes the product was wrong.

And yet I somehow expect that while you are happy to change our listings you would never pull this crap on a listing made by HP or Sony or Apple.

How can a brand owner opt out of having Amazon's AI generate bullet points?

I've seen this AI in action. It's wrong, a lot, and nowhere near ready for showtime. It hallucinates more than GPT, and grabs reference data from other websites without vetting, which is really bad when you're describing product specifications.

I have read Product bullet points requirements and Example.

Your "Example" contains subjective information as: softness (how soft? compare to what?); breathability (misleading. cotton actually not very breathable material); style (also - what style and what do you consider stylish?): easy movement and comfort (also very subjective and unclear); durable construction (how durable cotton fabric could be?); easy care (misleading also. 100% cotton can't be easy to care - it need to be washed, dried, ironed and stored neatly to avoid wrinkles); Perfect for dance practice, playtime, or outdoor activity (LOL what exactly I am buying if I can do anything in it?). You see - you bullet point is useless.

I don't see any useful and clear info about this item as: thread count, fabric type, color, weight, care instruction... only 100% cotton (but what cotton? India? Uzbekistan? Africa? Egypt?). Is it organic?

This example tells me nothing about this product. LOLI Only one single fact - 100% cotton!

I find it a bit strange that phrases like 'made from bamboo' and 'made from soy' are prohibited, yet an accepted example uses 'made from 100% cotton.' I don't sell products made from bamboo or soy, so this doesn't affect me, but what if your product is genuinely made from those materials? Are you not allowed to mention it? Why?

Here you go again Amazon, messing with the hard working and honest sellers who are trying to stay afloat on this platform.

Nobody likes or wants this AI bs especially changing OUR product detail page information without OUR permission. We created these PDP and information with images. WE have time and money invested in the PDP information.

When are you going to stop bullying and controlling sellers?

You need to stop the bad actors and hi jackers and let brand owners remove unauthorized sellers and make the necessary changes to OUR listings, images, and PDP information.

WE are the brand owner, WE are the manufacturer, but yet you're taking control of OUR product listings?

This is absolutely ridiculous and very poor business practice and definitely bad business ethics.

Dear @News_Amazon (interesting that that does not come up in the drop-down list of names):

I shouldn't have to tell you this, but "ASIN" means "Amazon Standard Identification Number."

So you're stuttering when you say: ASIN number or "not applicable" or "NA" or "n/a" or "N/A"...

Nor should you be saying "ISBN Number" either - but I bet if I looked hard enough I could find that in your help pages.

"The orders clarify that when the companies cannot obtain a good faith guaranty because the products are imported directly from a foreign supplier, they will only be liable if they knew, or should have known, of the violation and did not modify or embellish the claims the supplier provided or market the product as a private-label product.
