Changing SKUs for FBA Inventory

Hoping someone here can help

Our company is restructuring at the beginning of 2025 and as such will be changing the SKUS on our existing inventory. We sell through FBA and my concern is that changing the SKUS will mean they no longer match the current ASINs.

If ASIN B123456789 matches our current sku FBA-123-456 but the new sku will now be FBA1234-56, can I still send in the ASIN without changing the sku? We use our own GS1 UPC codes aslo.

Worried that I would need to create all new listing with new UPC codes, SKUs and ASIN.

Welcome any advice, thanks

Hi @Seller_4qkDNEtr9M8A5,

Thanks for reaching out. You can send in your items with a new SKU and it will not require you to create a new ASIN. If you use just your UPC to send in your items on, then you are fine as the inventory is shared across both SKU's, so you can just stop sending in under your original SKU.

If you do sticker your items with an FNSKU Sticker (explained here), which starts with X00, instead of your UPC, what I would recommend is that you run your inventory down on your current SKU and then as your inventory is running out. Then send in your items on your new SKU in time for the items to not fully run out on your original SKU, as it's a policy violation to have 2 active ASIN's on the same listing with the same condition type. Once your items are checked in to the fulfillment center, change that listing for your new SKU to Fulfilled by Merchant with a qty of zero. Once your inventory is depleted for your current SKU, then change your new SKU back to FBA, and it will activate your current inventory for your new listing Again, this is only if you label your items with an FNSKU for tracking.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Regards,

Michelle
