$1683.76 adjustment on small package. This is theft!

I got a $1683.76 adjustment on a small package that is 36"x3"x3" (tube). I ship small bamboo skewers in them with copper wrapped around them. I would not need a huge box and yet someone adjusted me claiming it is:

Carrier Audited Dimensions: 59.0 X 6.0 X 49.0 IN (185 pounds!)

This thing weighs like 1-2 pounds max!

I need someone to please help. I filed a case and the case number is:

So sorry. These adjustments that happen are ridiculous! If UPS or FedEx or whoever has their system that drastically changes dimensions someone needs to physically check, not just assume it is correct when it virtually never is correct. Hopefully you can get it straightened out.

Theft by the carrier and Amazon will be complacent to it.

Continues to happen to us as well, I report it to Amazon and the carrier, both tell me it isn't their problem and to contact the other party for further support, instead, I'll keep a tally for when the lawsuit is filed!

Keep a running tally, keep pestering the carrier (they are the ones who initiated the adjustment).

Hello @Seller_KGxJ2rwIX5vJO. Thanks for sharing those details with us.

The best next step for you is to request through that support ticket that the dispute be escalated.

If you include photos of the package and other ASIN-specific details, that will help with the dispute.

UPDATE: I reviewed the adjustment information and determined that this carrier adjustment was for the return shipment.

Do you still have that return available for photos? Was the return sent in the same/similar packaging as your outbound shipment?

Also: the carrier-audited weight for the adjustment is the package's dimensional weight and not the actual weight. The dimensions and not the weight were the source of this adjustment and should be the source of the dispute.

"This thing weighs like 1-2 pounds max!"

As noted by the others, crazy adjustments do happen way too often. I do NOT use Amazon Buy Shipping for lots of reasons but one would be so these types of fights and disputes are direct and NOT through a third party like Amazon.

The other comment I would make is that to fight these you need EXACT information, not a "1-2 pounds max" guesstimate.

Pack one up and get the precise information --

the tube is 35 1/2 x 2 3/4 x 2 3/4 or 36 1/2 x 3 1/4 x 3 1/4

the package weighs 33 ounces and so on.

Not telling them exactly what it is lets them know that you really DON'T know and they can claim total ignorance.

Hello @Seller_KGxJ2rwIX5vJO I am following up on your dispute for your recent shipment.

As I mentioned last week: this carrier adjustment was for the return shipment of the order.

Was the return sent in the same/similar packaging as your outbound shipment? Do you still have that return available for photos?

Do not ship in a tube, for FedEx or UPS that is non standard packaging and will land you about a $20+/- surcharge. Put the tube in a box. That's probably what drew the audit then they hit you with the wrong surcharge.

did you get a pickup receipt showing the weight

The 185 Pounds would come from dimensional weight. So UPS is indicating a dimensional weight of 185 pounds on the dim of 59x6x49. Even if you put in 2 pounds dim weight overrides it. Still the dimensions are the messed up part as it sounds
