Import Fee Sync Issue (One Child ASIN includes Import Fees in the price, while the other Child ASIN excludes Import Fees from the price).

Hi Amazon Sellers,

I’m facing an issue with import fees on 1 parent listing that has two child variations:

  • Child Variation A (basic set): Shows a clean price of $39.99, with the message: "An Import Fees Deposit may apply at checkout."
  • Child Variation B (premium set): Shows a price of $47.74 (we want to show a clean price of $44.99, but Amazon adds a fixed $2.25 Import Fees Deposit on the product page equalling $47.74, with the message: "Import Fees Deposit Included."

This creates inconsistency and confusion because Variation A neatly displays as $39.99 (import fee excluded), while Variation B appears oddly priced at $47.74 (import fee included)

Customers expect consistency—so both of the variations should have import fees added at checkout, or alternatively, both should include them upfront on the product page. Since it is mixed, it is causing confusion.

My goal:

Ensure both variations show Import Fees consistently on the product pages, ideally by applying the fees at checkout only. This would keep our pricing strategy clean, logical, and consistent (e.g., $39.99 and $44.99 without upfront import fees on just 1 variation).

Has anyone encountered this before, and can you advise how to synchronize the Import Fees across variations? FYI we are selling from the US and fulfilling in Canada via the NARF program.

Thanks for your help!

Is this something to do with Amazon.com FBA charging an import fee equivalent to sales tax for amazon orders over 40 CAD? (taking advantage of a CAUSM import rule to ignore under $40 for sales tax). I heard about this from another forum post, by Seller Support have not been able to confirm.

If someone could verify and propose a solution that would allow us to show clean/consistent pricing, I would much appreciate it. I'm assuming the added Import Tax of $2.25 on variation B would change depending on the user's location/post code?

If the Import Fees are always the same, then we can engineer the price to be a clean number i.e. $42.74+$2.25 Import Tax would show $44.99. But if this Import Tax changes based on the city/post code, then we can't see a way to list clean user-friendly prices to the customer (I.e. a number ending in $.99 or $.95).

Any ideas from the community who have solved this issue? Or from Amazon Seller Support with experience in this field?

Thanks for all your help! It is appreciated.
