If you’ve ever wondered why certain products, brands, and categories require pre-approval before you can sell them, this article is for you.
The goal for Amazon is to make sure brand products are safe, authentic, and comply with rules while maintaining customer trust.
Restrictions can apply at different levels: individual ASINs (the specific product listing), brands, brands within specific categories, entire categories, or sub-categories.
You can check restrictions by using the Add a Product tool in Seller Central. Click on the Show limitations link to see what’s needed. If there are listing errors, you can check them through this tool, too.
How to apply for approval:
* Go to the Seller Central homepage and click on Catalog > Add Products.
* Search for the product you want to sell.
* Click the Show limitations link and then hit Apply to sell to submit your application.
Note: Some categories, like Jewelry, Music, and Video/DVD/Blu-ray, need extra approval before you can sell in them.
Remember:
* Always check for restrictions before trying to list a product.
* You may need to submit different applications for different approvals.
* Approval isn’t guaranteed for all restricted products.
* Some categories have specific rules, and restrictions can change over time.
This process helps ensure that the products you sell are safe, legal, and meet Amazon’s standards. Click HERE for more details.
