What happened with the SAFE-T Claim staff? Did they all go home? SAFE-T claims used to be handled in 12-24 hours, and almost always accepted. Now, they take 7-10 days and many are denied! Same exact issues as in the past, totally difference responses now.
What is happening now is you place a SAFE-T claim and 7-10 days later you get a denial, or often asking for more proof. 10 days is along time to keep all returns hanging around for Amazon to respond and then locate and get more photos or details.
I have had 2 damaged items but Amazon only refunded the shipping, not for the damage. I appealed, 1 was denied, the other, of course, I am waiting for their response...again. I had 1 book returned that was different than was shipped (shipped leather, returned hardcover). I sent photos of this, but this was not enough. 8 days later they deny it and ask for more information. I don't even sell that version hardcover book!!! I resent all the information and some new photos (I just happen to still have the book sitting around 8 days later), and now we wait a long time again.
I have had as many as 8 SAFE-T claims at one time setting there unanswered. Are you trying to save money by delaying and confusing everyone so that we decide it is not worth it to fight against the system? Deny, deny, deny, hope we give up. Or, grant a small portion and hope we do not notice.
There is very little resemblance of the SAFE-T claim system prior to 2025. I wonder what changed.

Looks like I am alone on this. Only 2 view, no comments or support.
Claims continue to be denied. I am on 2nd and 3rd appeals on some of them. I have had 1 damaged accepted on appeal.
We had so many returns in January and most of them returned damaged. Buyers just dont care to protect them, and Amazon does not seem to care to refund for damages or return shipping cost when buyer choses to return. Something drastically changed. Maybe all support has gone back over the border. Sorry, but no support here or on SAFE-T claims, which are weeks behind now and deny most all claims.
You are not alone. We have done what they hope for and have given up on claims unless its something completely egregious. Its just not worth our time to spend 10 minutes taking photos and opening a claim, just to have returns sit around and wait a week and a half to have it denied and then do it all over again in the hopes to get reimbursed like 20% of the order value. The customer can return a completely different item and it will take weeks of nonsense to get back $23 of the $89.95 order.
Many of our claims are simply to get outbound shipping refunded when the buyer actually uses the correct reason code of no longer needed or similar. Those are typically granted almost immediately. They do seem to be taking much longer for the ones where Buyer used an inaccurate return reason code. We get a lot of "arrived late" ones where they clearly arrived on time. But, yes, damage claims take the longest. We win most of those, but rarely with more than a 20% restocking fee even when it is a switcheroo or theft of some part of an item, though. It is ridiculous, but we still persist in filing them. At some point it may not be worth it, but if we have to endure the insanity that is their automated handling time, we need to get some of these things reimbursed. Otherwise there's no point in participating in THAT stupidity.
then you get a claim approved. then you look at the details. THEY ONLY REFUNDED SHIPPING FOR $4.99--THEY DID NOT REFUND THE $45 MERCHANDISE.
On appeal, they will ask for picture of the return label. I threw it away. Not sure how that helps--they have picture of damaged merchandise AND tracking information on the return.
Derp derp derp, the moderator chimes in. Well, you need to review the policies. Derp. Get bent. Refund my GD money, or just admit there are little seller protections and/or many barriers to resolution.
Getting long waits myself. I could say that maybe the post holiday season has something to do with it but we are in February now. I am getting one that had an automatic denial and then followed with an answer that breaks Amazon's own policies. Appealing it again but I am just sitting and waiting.
Keep pushing. You go this.
SAFE-T claims are a joke. I'm not going to waste anymore time then I've already spent telling my story, but I will say this. Amazon makes it very obvious that we, the sellers, are not their customers. Even though we pay upwards of 15% to them, they treated me like crap.
Amazon does not care about us because they know they are the biggest and most popular.
Not alone. Been noticing the same thing since the beginning of this year (Perfect timing with Returnuary and the holiday returns). I had a customer claim inaccurate web site description and not as described. Item was exactly as pictured and described what it is. Just wanted my return shipping back. Over a week and a denial. Appealed and another week went by then another denial. Just gave up.
Correct. 1) Amazon does not GAF about sellers. They have made that clear. 2) My SAFE-T claim denials state I am not eligible for reimbursement of outbound postage. UH - I DO NOT CHARGE OUTBOUND POSTAGE AND MY CLAIMS ARE NEVER FOR THAT, BUT FOR RETURN POSTAGE WHEN THEIR DANG BUYERS LIE LIKE THEY ALWAYS DO ON RETURNS, or, asking me for photos WHICH I SUBMITTED IN ORIGINAL CLAIM. Basically, they stall and like all of you said, just hope to wear us down and use up our time so we give up and they can STEAL money from us due to having the WORST return policies in the universe. I am so glad I will be leaving Amazon this year!!! 20 years and we are OUT and won't look back. Amazon has become such a headache the past decade it's no longer worth it. They will root out all the good/honest sellers eventually and then I will be curious to see how their website goes. Maybe like the next Shein or Temu??? lol
We always get denied too. So much so that we just stopped filing them and raised prices a couple % on Amazon to absorb the losses.
We have been having some difficulty with the Safe-T claims team as well, particularly for claims exceeding $30 or more and they are not following policy!!
Sold a brand new printer, return reason given was No Longer Needed and we should have/expected to receive the printer back new as shipped
BUT NO! It came back to us opened unwrapped used with ink cartridges missing!! Filed a claim send images clearly explain what took place and was surprisingly denied. They asked to see UPC of box and printer which we sent them and we did not claim they sent us a different printer, we claimed they sent us a printer in materially different condition with missing parts.
It's bad enough we have to take a loss of any sort but according to Amazon we are eligible to recoup 50% of the sales price and the outgoing shipping we have gone back and forth with them twice already to provide further evidence.
How was this denied?!!!
Amazon Mods can you assist on this?
Safe-t claim ID 53535-45831-9703768
As it is we were not able to impose a restocking fee and attempt to process refund ourselves. We had issues with adding photos and saving the 50% fee to be applied. We wrote about it in the forums but Amazon mods never helped or got back to us.
Amazon needs to be more proactive and explaining what is to be returned when a claim is opened no longer wanted or needed or purchased by mistake should be returned brand new/unopened/unused exactly as shipped. Amazon is part of the problem.
