SEAmod has left the (Amazon) building ... literally

SEAmod has left the (Amazon) building ... literally, and not in a "headed to that great beyond" kind if way (thankfully). Her last post on the ASF was close to when she left.

I knew it was bound to happen at some point. However, that doesn't change how I feel about things right now. I really wish it had been many years from now and under different circumstances. I know everyone won't feel the same about her absence, and that's OK. Some won't care, just because they don't really know much about her/you. Those who might take some sort of joy in this just don't matter to me.

While I know Amazon doesn't care about the loss, sadly I don't think the majority of sellers will realize how much of a loss this is to our community; how much she/you advocated for the average seller; all the behind the scenes work that went unnoticed. Well I noticed, as did many others, and I thank her/you for being the longest tenured AZ Employee Poster in the forums. Granted the last few years her/your participation has been on a lower level, yet it has still been there helping sellers.

I was in the OSFE when she/you first came in so many years ago, under DarrenK if I'm not mistaken. For a while you were even our lone Moderator, and that during a rough stretch for the ASF. Yet she/you kept it going, building on what DarrenK had started. Eventually even becoming our Global Admin covering every ASF around the globe.

I was privileged to be a part of a small'ish group, who spent a lot of time in the forums, who were able to help for a period of time with the OSFE. It allowed me to have more interactions with you than most. What I saw was a caring person who enjoyed her job and knew who to go to on our behalf when issues arose.

Your stats as a Moderator showing - https://sellercentral.amazon.com/seller-forums/profile/5d05d905-509f-30f3-933d-28713413cda2 - are not accurate ...

... and do not reflect what I know to be. Only 5K replies? Not possible. This was from 2023, which might not include posts made within certain groups.

I can't even imagine how many PM/DM conversations you had with posters.

I never got the chance to meet up with her/you. I wish I had! Hopefully though somehow in the near future we can make that happen.

People come and go here. I get that. You gave us many years and I can't thank you enough for that. In this day and time even more than a year of ASF participation is rare, so we should be thankful to have gotten so many.

Whatever life has ahead for you I hope that you enjoy it to the fullest! Don't look back!

One quote I remember from Susan [paraphrasing] "just because Amazon's policy says what it does, doesn't meant that Amazon follows it"
View post

Which is pretty much was Bezos himself said when testifying before Congress a while back.

His paraphrased statement was along the lines of: It is not our policy to do that bad thing, but that's not to say we have never done it.

One sterling gentleman... 🦨

I am really in shock, really sad, as a professional, amateur seller with a 25-year career selling in ecommerce, as someone who has reached US Congress, the US Senate and the Vice Presidency of the United States, Senate entrepreneur committee, Small Business Senate Committe, touching on important issues that concern us all as ecommerce sellers, as someone who little by little has dedicated myself not only to looking out for my interests but also for the interests of millions of sellers in the country, I can say with clarity and honesty.

If it had not been for Susan I would not have been at Amazon for a long time. I had the opportunity to talk to her more than once, a person dedicated to her work, a person who managed to create a balance between Amazon and us sellers, a person who knew and knows the problems of the platform, a person who transmitted confidence and who always valued US sellers within Amazon, who gave us our place and when there was something unfair she fought alongside us to overcome any problem.

Paradoxically, I came here today for a problem that has been going on for weeks and that, as we know, "seller support" does not solve or the cases simply go into a "black hole." I thought about going to the forum to find out what Susan is doing now and look for the opportunity to bother her once again, and I found this sad news.

A moderator who was not used to writing frustrating scripts, but a moderator who solved, solved with confidence, even the most complex problems.

I have the hope, the illusion of knowing that Susan is now on vacation and will return to take the reins from a level where she will bring all her experience to make Amazon a better platform, she really is a valuable asset for Amazon.

I can be sure that whether Susan is here or not she will read these messages, I am sure that we are part of her, no. She did not get tired of us, we were her family, I never met her in person, but it was enough to talk to her a few times to know who she was.

I really hope that many of the moderators here have learned the best from it, it's time to put it into practice.

BTW @Seller_J46Ruz3VzvWCVyou also are an asset for this forum, thank you for the info

SEAmod was indeed the only moderator that seemed to get my satire/irony and humor....

and probably the only moderator that didn't threaten, nor attempt to, nor actually did ban me from this forum (I believe the low-down, no-good, self-loathing, bottom-dwelling mods that did are now removed or otherwise gainfully employed elsewhere....)

sorry to see her go.. happy trails.

1. Thanks for letting this stay up.

2. This is NOT to say that there aren't some GOOD mods/content specialist's currently in the forums

Very Nice Post.

Susan was a plus as a Mod on these threads. But i guess it comes down to this.

All Amazon employees are just waiting for their DAY-TWO to arrive. I hope she was there long enough to get that stock option before meet the DAY-TWO..

The last post I saw was last fall when she listed all the non-returnable products. I questioned the post because RFS disregards Amazon's policy and refunds buyers in full no matter what they return.

In recent weeks, I've noticed how Amazon destructs sellers. The Buy Box disappears, reappears, goes from 0% to 3% to 32%, then back to 2%, 1%, or 0% in just hours. It's like someone's messing with the sellers' sanity.

No one does anything. I call Seller Support, and someone, perhaps at the end of the "black hole," tells me: "That's what happens if you copy other people's listings!" Haha OMG. I told him, "But I haven't made new listings for months" and he replies that the results can be much later."

Not to mention that someone has been changing the trademark I'm authorized to use in Japanese language for months now. This causes many of the listings, hundreds of them, to go to "Suspected Intellectual Property Violations." They give me a few days to correct the incorrigible and then the platform takes them down. I've been fighting this for almost two years now, I've opened cases, nobody cares. Thanks to these actions by Amazon, I've achieved a balance, quintuple the listings on another platform to gradually stop my dependence on Amazon. Every listing Amazon takes down, I upload it on another platform.

I no longer worry about doing anything. It's not that I don't care, it's just that Amazon doesn't care and doesn't correct the problems. Even worse, Susan left. Actions speak louder than words. I read a lot on forums. Many pretend to do something, but don't actually follow through. Everything is just promises. It's like saying "shut up," or pretending something was done, or just leaving a record that someone addressed the complaint. Sad.

If Susan were here, I would definitely contact her, and my problem would surely be fixed in hours, yes, in hours. But she's gone.

I think it would be very difficult to work somewhere where you can't be honest with people who need help and always have to communicate so carefully.

I am constantly saying this.

How awful to have to dissemble and obfuscate and parse words when dealing with what are ostensibly "selling partners."

I often wonder how an Amazon mod can have any self respect.

Maybe one will drop by and disabuse me of this notion. Oh, wait, they won't come near this thread under threat of punishment.

And I rest my case.
