Forums Focus: Level Up Your Search Skills

Welcome to our ‘Forums Focus’ series, where we'll share tips and best practices for maximizing your use of the Amazon Seller Forums. As a community of hundreds of thousands of sellers, the forums contain a treasure trove of answers to your most pressing questions.

Chances are, if you've had a particular question or issue come up, another seller has encountered it before. That's where leveraging the Advanced Search feature within the Amazon Seller Forums can help you find the answers you need quickly.

After completing any search within the forums, you will find the ‘Browse discussions’ page, which contains several sorting and filtering options to help you refine your search quickly and easily.

Here are the main components you can use to make your searches more effective:

  • Sort by: Use the options here to sort how results are displayed to you. The default recommended option will use keyword relevancy to help find the closest threads to your search. You can also sort by newly created threads, threads with recent activity, or were most viewed or most voted.
  • Date and time filters: This dropdown will allow you to customize your search experience by the timeframe that you are inquiring about. Selecting the ‘Change default’ option at the bottom of the dropdown will allow you to set a favorite time period for future searches.
  • Quick filters: Use the ‘Quick filters’ to ensure your search results include either a reply that was marked as most helpful, a response from an Amazon Community Manager, or are from discussions you’ve created yourself.
  • Discussion filters: Looking for a thread that already has replies? Or has no replies? How about both? Use these options to help find responses that might have insight related to your question.
  • Categories and tags: Get laser focused in your search by picking and choosing what category of the forums you’d like to see results from. From there, you can also choose category-specific tags to easily find all discussions related to a specific issue.

Take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with these Advanced Search features. Getting comfortable with it will save you time down the road when you need information quickly on a specific subject and want to leverage the sage guidance of this community.

Can’t find what you’re looking for? Let us know in the comments below your experience with search, or if you are facing a specific issue requiring personalized assistance, please create a new thread here on the forums so a Community Manager can assist directly.

Stay tuned for more friendly forums tips and tricks!
