We are receiving numerous adjustments for shipping services. Many of these are USPS Ground Advantage and the charges are 100% approximately of the original shipping charge. There are also ranging from around $0.50 to $1.80. We do not have these issues with shipping services purchased outside of this platform and most of these items are extremely light weight being shipped in bubble mailers.
I have charges showing boxes expanding up to an inch between the time I ship it and they measure it at USPS. I will ship 30 of a particular box size in a month, but only 2 or 3 end up "expanding" - riiiiggghhhhtttt - I am so sure the boxes expanded an inch somehow.
This is a glitch with USPS. They are rotating the dimensions and then charging you. There's no way to fight it I guess. They took hundreds of dollars out of my account today and there is nothing you can do about it even though all shipping information is correct.
If you put the dimensions in for a padded envelope as 9 x 6 x 2 (LWH) like they ask for, they will say your dimensions are 9 x 2 x 6. And then charge you. So I guess you need to stand the envelope up when you measure it??
This is all very fraudulent.
Yep, have it happening too. 9-ounce package is now 2.58lbs. Been sending the same item for years. Always ships at 9-ounces The item is only 4 ounces before packing. Suddenly, one expanded to 2.58 lbs. Amazon says USPS is always right when it comes to these adjustments and will not help. Funny, because Amazon will also say USPS is always wrong when they show they delivery something.
It is even more suspicious when you only see this happening with Amazon orders. Never happens with any other marketplace order. Just Amazon. Why?
Just another way we sellers are being nickeled and dimed. I have adjustments where I am charged even they show a lower weight but dimensions are different. The problem? The dimension are so small that they would make no difference regardless. A 7x5x3 box adjusted by a 1 inch on every side would make zero difference when buying shipping. Amazon you need to do something about this. It just is not right that a third party can access our money without any proof. They sure as heck don't operate on a 1% or better ODR. They can only access our money with Amazons acquiescence.
We got several like this with a surcharge:
Customer Entered Dimensions: 7 X 4 X 3 IN
Carrier Audited Dimensions: 7.0 X 3.0 X 4.0 IN
What's the difference? They are standing the boxes on their sides and charging us more.
4 Oz groundasver $4.90 today! I've never seen anything like this.
Customer Entered Dimensions: 7 X 4 X 3 IN
Carrier Audited Dimensions: 7.0 X 3.0 X 4.0 IN
What's the difference? They are standing the boxes on their sides and charging us more.

Hello @Seller_5N6Ct6HiqZIaw and @Seller_Zw8LsZUQSH440 The order a package's dimensions are displayed does not affect the shipping rate.
There are several reasons why you may be seeing adjustments even when the customer-entered dimensions and weight match the carrier-audited information.
The most common reason is that the adjustment was for a USPS-shipped return. USPS carrier-audited information is not available for returns, so that information will always match even when there are differences and adjustments.
If it is not a USPS return, adjustments may be caused by fuel surcharges, area surcharges, and other factors detailed in our help page: Carrier shipping correction charges

The USPS runs packages in their network through the Automated Package Verification System (APV). This system helps them to verify for accurate weight, dimensions, service type, origin zone, destination zone, etc. If USPS determines that you underpaid or overpaid for postage, or used a different package or service from what you entered when buying your label, they will automatically charge or credit your Amazon account for the difference.
If you or any seller wants to dispute the carrier-audited information and adjustments, that must be done through Amazon support. I recommend including photos or product information that will support the information from the original shipping label.

If it is not happening when NOT using Amazon "Buy Shipping", then it is NOT USPS. It is Amazon padding their profits and blaming it on USPS
We are seeing the same. Almost every package. It does not make any sense when you look as to why. I hope we can get some concrete information from a MOD and what we can do to stop this.
