Across the globe, we continue to find ways to reduce our packaging, while making the materials we use easier to recycle. To improve how orders are shipped, for the good of customers and the planet, we have:
Launched our Ships in Product Packaging program: We test and certify products that can ship safely to customers in their original manufacturer’s packaging—without an additional Amazon box, envelope, or bag. In 2024, nearly four million of your products were certified to ship in their own product packaging through seller engagement, machine learning, and product testing that helps identify qualifying products.
Expanded paper-based packaging: When additional Amazon packaging is required to ship a product, we prioritize paper-based packaging solutions where possible. This packaging can often be recycled through home recycling pickup. As of October 2024, we’ve removed all plastic air pillows from our delivery packaging used at our global fulfillment centers.
Reduced packaging: When an item needs additional Amazon packaging to ensure a damage-free delivery, we aim to use as little packaging as possible. We have designed and built models to determine the most efficient type of packaging for each item it learns about, which helps reduce the number of cardboard boxes, filler, tape, and bags used. These models are already widely used in fulfillment centers in North America and Europe, with components being rolled out in additional locations across India, Australia, and Japan.

I this why you shifted all the USPS rate tiers down 1oz so you can now overcharging all sellers using USPS. Why is USPS 8oz shipping rate cut off at 7oz by Amazon how many 100's off millions is Amazon over charging sellers daily and we all can look up and see shipping is now way cheaper directly from USPS I'm guessing Amazon must feel sellers are the enemy from within right?
Is this why I received back a FBA return (I don't even sell on FBA, or the products they are returning to me) in a box roughly 10 times the size of the bottle, and there was no packaging inside to protect it?
That is the Amazon attention to detail we've come to expect.
Every return Amazon sends back to us, is in a MUCH bigger box than necessary and NO packing materials.
This is the way you ship FBA orders to the customers? It's no wonder we have so many returns, you don't package their orders very well.
Please work on this problem and many others and stop wasting resources on these little things.
Or not in corporate liespeak, Amazon has found a way to save a bunch of money by using even less packaging material but we're going to mask it as us giving a single crap about the environment because maybe a few goy will fall for it.
When you start shipping direct from China will you have to increase the box weight for crush strength or use a heavy weight poly bag = and the cost to the environment to ship from China?? - so you have to make it up on this side by 'caring about the environment' give me a break! more corporate BS
Shame so many items arrive to customers in a damaged state which is explained as Amazon is using A1 instead of human intelligence to choose the correct type of packaging! Of course we sellers are hit with the costs of refunds which makes the choice of packaging quite irrelevant to Amazon.
I’ve recently had multiple FBA returns because a product was shipped in a thin bag when it needs sturdier packaging. The costs were passed on to my seller account. This has happened in domestic US shipping, and also is especially true for remote fulfillment to Canada and Mexico, which I’ve switched off for this reason.
Millions of damaged products and angry customers. Just in time for the Holidays.
Amazon's rolling 20s per usual.
You know what else would be good for the planet and reduce the amount of packing used? Not encouraging customers to try out (or worse, "rent" for free) an item, by not steering them to LIE about return reasons in order to get free 2-way shipping.
Stop pretending you care about anything except your sociopathic self-interest, Amazon. It's not a good look, and it implies you think we're stupid when you expect us to lap up your PR.
Meanwhile, Amazon just sent us from FBA one single item that is 10" long x 1" x 1", inside of a box that is 20" long x 15" x 10". Laughable.
