Hi all,
A customer messaged me the following:
'Hello, I just wanted to send something your way that I found rather interesting. I get solicited by Amazon sellers all the time to review their products, but never once have I been offered a commission to leave a negative review for a competitor. I am not sure why you guys would be targeted this way but they offered me money to leave a one-star review for your product and then return it. I actually think your product looks good and I have always wanted to try a cold plunge so naturally I refused their offer. Picture attached for so you can see. Thanks for your time.'
They also attached a screenshot of an email they received offering $10/$20/$20 commission for a written review, picture and video.
I only have 1 good competitor in the niche. I have a strong suspicion its them.
Has anyone ever experienced anything similar? would love to hear any insights or recommendations on what to do. Cheers
crap… besides report the event… I guess to tag a Mod, I mean… you have a message through amazon system, correct? So, hopefully they can trace the communication between the bad actors and this samaritan.
Sorry to hear about it. Hope everything goes well to your business.
Good luck
Report this to Amazon. They will do researches and if anything you say is true they will suspend the seller. She has broken several regulations.
BUT - since we have seen ALL here - if you don't tell the truth YOU will be suspended.
@Danika_Amazon could you please describe how the OP has to proceed? Create a case or use some form to report the seller?
I don't know if I want to believe it. crazy and sad what people and the internet do. honestly. If that is true, then who is doing it. that is extortion.
All you can do is report it to Amazon. Eventually they will get caught.
Yet another reason to not trust reviews! Sorry this is happening to the OP but suspect it is a lot more common as the internet has been long weaponized!
I know someone who gets messages like this on Facebook messenger. They get a ton of stuff for free legitimately for 5 star reviews but occasionally do get the 1 star review request. They told me in her experience, the sellers never actually end up paying them for the 1 star review. Some buyers leave it as is but my friend always changes it to a 5 star if this is the case. Tell the customer that they won't get paid!!!
I am getting 1 star reviews as soon as I list a new product and none have even sold yet. Amazon will not do anything about it.
I too have suddenly received several 1 star reviews and I have also received 1 star reviews even without the person having purchased the product. The product is maintained with the real reviews that are good ratings but suddenly when my positioning increases the 1-star reviews appear in an accelerated way.
