I require professional guidance and clarification for the following matter:
I created a listing with the product descriptions and corresponding UPCs, then I deleted the listing because the inventory will take time to be ready, that is the beginner mistake I did. after ASINs were assigned, what is my best course of action to do ? should I use the same old UPCs or generate new UPCs to create the same listing for the same products ? I plan to launch the exact product with the exact variations, if I use new UPCs, I am afraid it might trigger a duplicate listing and amazon might take down my listing.
Thanks !
Hi @Seller_CxLdOgKH32P6Q,
If you’re planning to launch the exact same product, you should re-use the original UPC. The UPC is tied to the product itself, and deleting the Amazon listing doesn’t invalidate the UPC or its association with the ASIN.
A new UPC should only be used if the physical product has been materially modified, such as changes to its attributes, features, or ingredients. Since that doesn’t seem to be the case here, re-using the original UPC is the best course of action.
Hope this helps!
Hi @Seller_CxLdOgKH32P6Q,
Thanks for reaching out. As @Seller_i6S8knzW6zU6Z stated, you should use your original UPC you created the ASIN with the first time. It will connect back to that ASIN unless you fully delete your contributions, which you can find the instructions on how to do that here.
Follow these steps:
Delete both your offers and item data contributions.
Enter an "x" in the add-delete field in your Inventory Loader file. This will completely remove all data associated with your SKU.
It will state that you should wait 24 hours before creating your listing again, however, 30 minutes is usually enough time after you upload the file and confirm it's successful.
If you have issues after you have fully removed your contributions and tried to re-create your listing, please contact Seller Support and provide them as much information as you can from what I have listed below. This will help expedite the review of your case.
1. Product Id ( GTIN/ ISBN) number
2. Brand Name
3. Product Title
4. Manufacturer Name
5. Batch id only if the issue is feeds related
6. Screenshot of the error with the product id, date and timestamp visible in the background
If you still need help after they investigate, please provide me with the case ID so I can take a look.
Have a great weekend!
Michelle
