Because of the massive backlog, the USPS is experiencing on all packages especially Media mail, is Amazon doing anything to warn customers of delays or adjusting the time frame they are showing to buyers.
Buy shipping sometimes requires priority mail or UPS shipping but for most orders media is still being accepted. My orders usually require 5-8 day delivery which has been met until now but I see the system starting to crack under the strain.
Many of my USPS packages shows this message:
In Transit, Arriving Late
Your package will arrive later than expected, but is still on its way. It is currently in transit to the next facility.
Most of our packages shipped in the last week show this as well, Etsy and Amazon alike. OTDR metrics are going to take a big hit.
It all sucks, and it is a huge trade-off scenario.
Take a metrics hit, or spend more cash to upgrade to UPS or FedEx.
correct - takes a day to get the acceptance scan. ridicules service
We had a USPS Priority Mail package take more than a week to get from northeast U.S. to Wisconsin a few weeks ago. This is even though the customer was shown 3 day delivery. I can only imagine it’s getting worse. I read an article in Modern Retail that UPS and Fedex are telling some brands who handle their own shipping to not drop off more than X00 packages per day, and even if the brands drop them off at the sorting center or UPS store they’ll be refused or get their accounts shut down.
You’re not alone. We are seeing a bunch of packages that are delayed by the USPS. Typically shows a pickup, then nothing for about two weeks, where it suddenly shows up in the recipients city and gets delivered within a day or two from that point.
Unfortunately, we have already lost one A-to-Z because of this, even though shipping was purchased through Amazon (we are appealing). But it’s definitely not an isolated issue.
And here I thought they did the temporary holiday rate hike to hire more help in order to prevent this problem?
I’ve had packages held up for over 3 weeks @ USPS, and then they’ll “magically” start moving again and get delivered. But boy, customers don’t like that!!! – Puts us, the sellers, in a bind when customers start trying to cancel orders, and demand a duplicate get shipped out to them…
Typically after the next few days, amazon will start to add days to the EDD. They’ll start to count transit days as 4 per week instead of 5 or 6.
It usually results in most FBM sellers (including me!) crying "but of COURSE it will get there WHY is amazon saying Arrives AFTER christmas! - and yeah they’ll put that text on listings too.
But for stuff in transit? nope.
