Suspended for being under 18

Hello,

My Amazon account was suspended about 4 months ago because I made the unfortunate mistake of signing up for a sellers account being under a minor. However, I turned 18 a few weeks ago and I really want to get back selling. I was wondering if there’s any chance for me to get unsuspended. I’ve sent many emails to seller performance and they stopped responding to me.

If anyone has experience with this issue, it would mean the world to me if you could help me out.

Thanks,
-Andrew

Post your suspension letter and any messages you sent and received from them. No one can help with the little information you gave.

On Amazon, you need to be at least 18 to open a seller account.

You should have registered the seller account on one of your parents name (with their permission) and then once you are 18 you could have changed the registration into your own. You did a really bad mistake.

I would suggest you to try e-mailing jeff@amazon.com if the seller performance are not responding. I see no reason why would they not allow you to start selling now. But you might be asked to close your current account and open a new one since your User Agreement on the first one is invalid.

Yes … I just helped another seller with the same issue get reinstated.

You’ll want to have all your registration doc.'s together and then send an email, with them. to jeff@amazon.com as mentioned briefly explaining your mistake but that you are now over 18.

@andrew_g ,

Looks like you’ve learned a valuable life lesson. ALWAYS read any contract or agreement before you sign. If you had done that you would’ve seen where they say you must be 18+ years old.

You’d also see that it is very strictly forbidden to open more than one account without prior approval from Seller Performance.

Now how do you recover from this? First thing is to post the original suspension letter and then anything you’ve sent to amazon and their responses. This is very important as we probably speak “amz talk” much better than you!

You can then expect a bunch of questions and also some less than nice posts along with some just flat out nasty people.

This brings you to the second life lesson: Don’t take it personal. These forums can be brutal. But they can also be very helpful. Take the good and leave the bad.

After you draft the best possible appeal with the help of the forum, send that in. We’ve got a decent track record with overturning suspensions.

Bringing us to life lesson three: Be Patient. The world does not operate on your timeline and they also probably don’t give the importance to your problems that you do.

My guess is that your appeal will basically involve falling on your sword and taking responsibility. Don’t blame your mother, father, brother or even your dog. YOU are the one who screwed up.

And life lesson four: If you accept responsibility for whatever is happening in your life, you are in control of the situation and stand a very good chance of fixing it.

However, if you blame your dog or baby sister, you become the victim. When you are a victim, you give them total control of the situation along with any chance of fixing the situation.

As you get older, you’ll also learn to not bypass a bathroom and to never trust a fart! It can make a mess of your shoes.

Last life lesson was taught to me by my Dad and his brother: Never piss on an electric fence. You should be able to figure out why this is so true

Enough Philosophy by Bob.

Hope that you get reinstated and can start your wild ride down The River. Just don’t drag your fingers in the water. Lots of crocodile nasties just waiting to grab some nice tender young fingers.

Here was the first email I got from Amazon regarding my suspension:

Hello,

You have allowed a minor to use your account. This is against our policies. As a result, you may no longer sell on Amazon.com, and your listings have been removed from our site.

Please ship any open orders. If you have funds in your account, they will be available after any amounts paid for A-to-Z claims or chargebacks on your orders have been deducted. This usually takes about 90 days, but funds may be held longer.

After they sent that email, I asked for what options I had to get my account back and if I could setup a new account with my Dad’s information. This is the last email I ever got from Amazon

Hello,

We reviewed your account and the information you provided, and we have decided that you may not sell on Amazon.com.

We may not respond to further emails about this issue.

Sincerely,

Seller Performance Team
Amazon.com

I have heard people say that if Amazon says “We may not respond to further emails about this issue” that means your done and have no chance, but I can’t believe that! After they sent that email I tried sending in my first plan of action in December which I never got a response too. After that, I decided it would be best to wait until I turn 18 and try to contact them again. In March, I turned 18 and starting writing a new plan of action that I sent to seller performance. This is what I sent to them:

Dear Seller Performance team,

About 4 months ago, my Amazon sellers account was suspended. It was suspended due to the reason I signed up for an account being under the age of 18. However, I just turned 18 a few weeks ago and I’m no longer a minor. This was a serious mistake on my end and I really didn’t mean to cause any trouble. Ever since I got suspended, I’ve been trying to figure out a way to get reinstated. I researched many things online but I came to the conclusion that it would be best to wait until my birthday and ask permission to have my account back.

Plan Of Action:

Root Cause of the Problem

I made the unfortunate mistake of signing up for an Amazon sellers account under the age of 18. All though I was clearly told by Seller support that I could sign up for an account being under 18, the rule was clearly outlined in the Amazon policies which I missed. I take full responsibility for this and it was my fault.

Corrective Action

- Now that I’m 18, I believe I’m allowed to have an Amazon sellers account. With the permission of Amazon of course. I understand that having a sellers account is a privilege, not a right.

- I have read the Amazon TOS, policies and rules carefully in order to ensure additional rules are not breached and that future events like this will not happen again.

- Make sure my account health is optimal by maintaining a close watch over my customers and any complaints they may have. I really want to become a role model seller so that more and more people will want to join your network of sellers.

- We have never sold anything on Amazon yet and I want to work really hard on growing my business on Amazon. My business revolves around providing great customer service and high quality products, similar to Amazon’s business model.

- I’m going to hire a special support employee that’s sole job will be to keep an eye on my account health and make sure everything is in good standing.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I think the best thing about Amazon is the awesome community of sellers and people. All of us have one common goal, to help as many customers as possible and grow our business as much as possible. I know many people make their living off selling on Amazon and I would love to have the same opportunity as them. I really want to sell on Amazon because it’s something I know I have a passion and drive for. Making people happy and running my own business is something I’ve always dreamed of doing. I know I made a mistake and I want to do everything in my power to fix it. I’m just asking for a second chance.

I’ve provided a copy of my driver’s license, bank statement and my plan of action just in case you need it.

I look forward to your reply. Best regards,
Andrew

I know many people make their living off selling on Amazon and I would love to have the same opportunity as them. I really want to sell on Amazon because it’s something I know I have a passion and drive for. Making people happy and running my own business is something I’ve always dreamed of doing. I know I made a mistake and I want to do everything in my power to fix it. I’m just asking for a second chance.

I’ve provided a copy of my driver’s license, bank statement and my plan of action just in case you need it.

I look forward to your reply. Best regards,
Andrew

I sent that about 2 weeks ago and still no response.
