To provide a better experience for our customers, we have made updates to configurations to Unit Count and Item Form attributes for 33 Product Types (PTs).
Unit Count: This attribute indicates the total number of units the product has, for products that are consumed by volume, weight, linear, dimension and so on. This attribute also defines the unit of measure. For example, fluid ounces, ounces, feet and so on. for your product and depends upon the Product Type (PTs) and Item Form of your product. We use also the Unit Count value to display the Price Per Unit of the product to customers.
Item Form: This attribute defines the form of your product. For example, for a 'Shampoo' product type some of the forms are, cream, liquid, and foam. If your ASIN is a product type where the Item Form is required, you must select a value from the drop-down list that best represents the form of your product.
We have added additional Unit Count Type and Item Form values for 33 Product Types (PTs) where Unit Count Type is conditionally enumerated based on Item Form. That is, in these PTs the value of Unit Count Type will be derived based on the Item Form value selected during listing.
These attributes are mandatory for listings created one at a time or in bulk and will be effective October 2022. All ASINs in these select product types will need to have these attributes populated when submitting new ASINs or updating existing ASINs starting from October 2022. Not populating these mandatory attributes or having Unit Count Type values which are not valid will prevent any new selection creation in the relevant Product Types.
Note: This will not delist selection that you have listed before October 2022. If you have ASINs in your inventory in any of the select product types that do not have an Item Form or Unit Count Type value, you may begin updating these attributes by referring to the item form list.
For more information go to: Conditional Unit Count based on Item Form, Normalized Value of Size, Item Form, Number of Items and Net Content details.
Did you even look at what types are currently populated or even, um, logical? For example
body deodorant - there is no “stick” or "solid’ - only “cream, mousse, aerosol, gel”
I had to figure out on my own that the new product types can be found highlighted in yellow in the “item form list” spreadsheet - poor communication.
Edit: oh only SOME entries for the changed categories are highlighted in yellow. I think it could be even MORE confusing if three or four colors were used…
And thanks for the 4 day warning. Totally leaves plenty of time to adjust
Is there a report that is downloadable that contains the “item form”?
Seems to me if Amazon want’s certain fields to now be mandatory and updated correctly they should provide a downloadable report that contains these new mandatory fields.
We are on ASIN’s that many sellers are on and maybe someone called it a CREAM and another called it a LIQUID.
But now if the item form says LIQUID (for example) and the Unit Count Type says “Ounce” instead of “Fl OZ” the listing will be search suppressed?
Easy correction with a template if I was able to download a file, impossible if you have to go 1-by-1 for thousands of asins.
UPDATE
The Category Listings Report (All) contains some useful fields
So for Hair Conditioners:
Cream is “Ounce”
Lotion is “Fl OZ”
Ok not confusing at all.
Amazon needs to let us download catalog to make updates in the same manner as vendor central.
