Easiest way to get tracking on 1st class mail
I have to ship some very light items. About 1oz in weight or less.
They are non fragile.
I want to mail them in an envelope.
What’s the easiest way to get the envelope to qualify for first class mail, with a tracking number?
Does it work to take a #10 business envelope, and just put a piece of ridged cardboard inside?

Send it as a first class parcel which comes with tracking and delivery confirmation. A first class stamp does not have any tracking. Use any envelope that it fits in. We find size 0 poly bubble mailers work for almost everything that is small in size and they only cost $0.12 - $0.14 each.

It has to weigh under 13 oz if you’re bringing it to the post office and paying for it. If you purchase the label online it may go up to 16 oz. I understand your item weighs 1 oz, but it sounds like you’re looking for good information. The standards are different online is all i’m saying.

The post office really doesn’t have any other requirements for package dimensions for first class - i send items in boxes, bubble mailers and envelopes all the time via first class, so long as it is under 13 oz. I also want to mention if you want to go the cheapest route and send it in an envelope, it will go through their mail sorters which physically bend the envelopes… so if its VERY rigid, it will probably crack or bend whatever it is. Also, you cannot track envelopes with standard letter mail. USPS used to have an option where you can track anything for 75 cents but it was changed in the last 5 years or so.

Get some rigid photomailers, either letter size or larger ones that can be cut into two letter size ones. A parcel is anything that is too large or too “rigid” to be a flat. No chance of these being run through a sorting machine.
