USPS discontinued priority regional rate C a while ago. But I still have a lot of these regional C shipping boxes left.
Anyone know if I can still use these boxes for regular weighed priority mail?
They discontinued them because they were so expensive to ship. Not sure what you are shipping but if USPS thinks it’s too costly you might look at other shippers.
You would need to call USPS to know if you can still use the box for standard priority mail. It is considered an oversized box so you need to put the dimensions in when calculating the price.
Why risk any confusion. Just take them to a recycle center or cut them up to use as extra padding/dividers in other boxes. Order more boxes from USPS. They are free.
I use my old C boxes to ship UPS (going to FBA) and Fedex. Never had a problem. I would never use current boxes. Once a UPS guy asked about it I explained that it was discontinued and he just shrugged.
Postmaster said they are just regular Priority Mail boxes now. The box is a good size and I have used a number of them to ship non-flat rate Priority Mail packages. Never had a problem using them.
You can still use the box with a regular priority postage. Just fill in the box dimensions and weight. It is just like any other box that you use.
It’s really not worth the risk, you can have packages that come out and have postage owing even despite being fully paid, they can technically do whatever they want as when you ordered the boxes you agree to a sales contract / TOS that they can and only ever will be used for that specific postage type.
The whole point of these boxes being specifically labeled for regional A, B, C, small, medium, large, etc. is for quick identification and for the loaders to easily be able to puzzle-piece load the trucks so when you use the wrong postage on a one of these box, it messes up the computer process and ultimate ends up wasting a bunch of their time which is why they ding the package with crazy ‘postage owing’ rates.
you can still use them as a regular box - no flat / Reagan rate
i used it recently with no issues
Our Postmaster told me that we can use any box, flat rate or not, for regular UPS Priority Shipping. He even indicated we could cut them down and use them. This helps us, since we pay by size.
Now that is our postmaster, other post offices may not agree, thus causing a situation on postage due.
We have not run into postage due situations using flat rate priority boxes for non-flat rate situations. If I had regional rate C boxes I would use them for priority mail.
Your path, and results may differ.
I was told by an employee behind the counter at the post office, that i shouldn’t be using them. I said I would pay the difference to what it should be and was then told to give it to a delivery employee or slide it into a slot at the post office. It would go through that way.
