Seller Support finally admitted they’ve got a bug in the list editing function.
Check this out…I had edited my listing’s title, clicked save and finish, got a popup that said the edits had been submitted. But…on the grayed-out page behind the popup I can see a circle spinning. Indicating that it’s being processed and not yet submitted. And sure enough, 2 days later I see nothing has changed.
What then followed was a week of emails and phone calls with the same result: seller support and then the catalog team would tell me to do what I continually explained I can’t do–edit the listing!
I was in the movie Groundhog Day!
Finally, I got someone on the phone, and after she also told me to edit the listing–and I repeated what I had been repeating all week…I was finally told that Amazon is aware of the problem, and it’s affecting other sellers as well . And the engineers are working on it–with no timeline for completion available.
Why no one else could tell me this–or admit it, as if it was some secret–is not my question.
I’m curious if there are others here that also can’t edit their listing–or was I just fed a bunch of BS.

Probably took that long until a support rep saw the problem and recognized they had seen it before. They are not apprised of existing problems/
I was able to update listings yesterday. Took about 15 minutes to go through. I did inventory file partial update upload. Went through just fine.
I’ve been able to update photos, descriptions, and other attributes, but titles often will not change. This has been a problem for at least months. Maybe years.
What is a newer bug from my perspective is not being able to Close listings. It’s been like this for over a week.
I just open a case to change a title and search terms now. It gets done pretty fast.
Still can’t close a listing though.
I have never been able to change a title. I just assumed that was the Amazon way.
I can never edit my listing or my title. I gave up. I don’t even know what to do about it. My changes never show up.
This is the correct one, unless your item is Media.
It’s deceiving. Because of that downward symbol at the end of "Inventory Files for Specific Categories” it gives you the impression that you’re supposed to click it and choose from the drop down menu.
Finally figured it out though. So thanks everyone.
Now for another question…
If I use the flat file to edit a description–using allowed hyperlinks for bold, paragraph, etc.–that I used in the web app, will it actually format the description accordingly, or just turn it into one big block of text? Thanks.
I still have this issue
Can anyone give me suggestions how to reach the Catalog team or Engineering team via phone then that would be highly appreciated!
I have tried to delete the listing, waited for 24h and then did a full-update via flat file but no change. The title just won’t change! Support keeps me going in circles for 10d now. I need to talk with someone who really understands the matter.
If a flat file, and the catalog team, if you’re lucky enough to get them on the phone, can’t resolve these listing issues… there’s not much I can offer other than to suggest that you leave your listing as is for the time being, and develop your own website and sell on other marketplaces. Amazon is clearly an unwieldy beast that even Amazon can’t tame.
