Advance notice: Business name and address to be displayed on the seller profile page starting September 1, 2020

#1

Beginning on September 1, 2020, we will display a seller’s business name and address on their Amazon.com Seller Profile page. For individuals, we will display the individual name and address. This is consistent with Seller Profile pages across Amazon stores in Europe, Japan, and Mexico.

Why are we making this change?

Over the years, we have developed many ways for sellers to share more about their business, including through features like the Seller Profile page, Store pages for brand owners, and Handmade Maker Profile pages. These features help customers learn more about the businesses of a seller and the products that they are selling. We are making this change to ensure there is a consistent baseline of seller information to help customers make informed shopping decisions.

Can I share more information to help customers beyond my business name and address?

Yes, you are welcome to add additional information about your business and products that you think would be helpful to customers. However, remember that you should not include an email address in order to prevent spam and abuse. We ask customers and sellers to use our Buyer-Seller Messaging system to communicate electronically.

How do I ensure my information is up to date?

You can view and update your contact information by following the steps below:

  1. Login to your Amazon seller account.
  2. In the Settings menu at the top right corner of Seller Central, click Account Info to view the Seller Account Information page.
  3. In the Business Information section, click the links for the information that you want to view.
  4. To change your business name, click Display Name and to change the address, click Business Address. Enter the new information or edit the current information.
  5. Once completed, click Submit to save.

It is about time. The fact that sellers can hide behind a Seller Name has always baffled me. In our state if you are going to do business under any name other than your own, you must register with the state.

The intent is so when needed, you can be found.

Thank You!

Advanced Notice, Don’t want your home address displayed, get a PO Box Now!

#4

Wow. Good bye! I don’t want to give the entire planet my home address.

#5

I definitely disagree with this and hopefully it doesn’t last!

#6

I’m actually in favor of this. I’m also shocked that Amazon is doing this since it seems they have been going out of their way lately to make it impossible for sellers and buyers to communicate. I only see more business from this.

#7

I’m not opposed to this, but I’m unclear on the objective. Is it so customers can mail us stuff? I would imagine the vast majority of Amazon sellers don’t have open-to-the-public storefronts. In reality it will serve to provide an easy way for junk mail address harvesters to identify and market to Amazon sellers by mail and probably add no value, unless I am missing something.

#8

I did not think we could use a PO Box for an address. I was under the impression it has to be a physical address.

#9

I’ve tried to update (cleanup) my business address for display and the edit button is not present. Admin might want to check that ! Deleting out of date information seems to be a challenge.

#11

100% in favor of this.

I suspect that most of us who are actual businesses (thus, already subject to our info being publicly available) will be in favor of this. Hopefully it will make it a little bit harder for IP thieves and other unscrupulous actors, to hide behind the anonymity of the marketplace format.

Looking forward to this. I have to admit to being very impressed that we got an advance notification for a change.

#13

Mine is, I have a PO Box as my bill to and physical as ship to for all my suppliers. Amazon doesn’t mind it at all

#14

Found by whom? The customer? For what? The way you typed that, it seems you were saying the intent is so that the seller could be found in case something happens legally. Amazon doesn’t need to display our addresses for that, they already have them if that’s what you’re getting at.

Again, I don’t understand the ‘intent’ for this other than unwanted harassment. Not all of us are businesses either, some of us are individuals / sole proprietors that want our personal information private. This should be optional.

#15

Apply for a PO Box.

#16

This is completely unwarranted.

There is no good reason to put this information out there.

Amazon runs everything for FBA sellers: store, ship, and customer service.

Do suppliers get treated the same way? No.

What this will do is put information out in the public domain so members of the public can harass and abuse sellers over issues not related to selling on Amazon.

#17

What prevents someone from inputting, “123 My street, Youguess City, CA 90210?”

#18

Dear Amazon
Thank you for putting my life in danger because, as you might already know you have many many lunatic buyers on your platform, now they will know where I am located and you are putting me in physical danger.

#19

LOVE THIS … Hope the Chinese have to also do this… so sick of ordering stuff on amazon thinking I’m getting USA shirts or Patch’s and a box of Chinese Junk shows up …

Jewels_Authority…

Years ago after having one of those somewhat lunatics, and a odd return… they were on the other side of the country but you know you never know…

I just got a PO Box, it says PO box on my driver’s license, all my vehicle registrations… anything that’s important goes to the PO box, no more worrying about the poor mail delivery, at the residence when the fill in carrier is present… or not present???

You can also sign up for informed delivery… So that you get a brief synopsis email of the contents of your incoming box…

Or the residential --delivery address, that could save a whole lot of confusion for many customers, if they had signed up for informed delivery…

I just wish I had that “same information” – for some of those really interesting orders, the dropshippers, with an inocuos name like “purchaser”?.. or the ones that put “Amazon” as a purchaser for their nickname???

As far as I’m concerned I look at it as a safety measure???

Anybody official actually has that information in their database, of where I actually live…

And if anyone has ever said anything , I just say the world’s a scary place…

right so if some sellers are going to respond to this by not revealing their real address, then what is the point here?
