Hello,
I am currently registering for Amazon Seller Wallet and have encountered a confusing situation regarding the Business Type selection.
On the Seller Wallet registration page, the available options are:
Privately-owned business
Publicly-listed business
State-owned business
Charity
None, I am an individual
However, in the Seller Wallet FAQ on the same page, Amazon provides separate definitions for:
Sole Proprietor
A business owned and run by one person with no legal distinction between the owner and the business entity. A sole proprietor usually has a business name reflected on a tax document.
Individual
A business owned and run by one person without a business name.
My issue is that the FAQ specifically refers to "Sole Proprietor" as a separate business type, but there is no "Sole Proprietor" option available in the dropdown menu.
I contacted Seller Support and received conflicting guidance:
One representative suggested selecting "None, I am an individual."
Another representative suggested selecting "Privately-owned business" because a sole proprietor may have a registered trade/business name.
Since Seller Wallet states that choosing the wrong business type could result in an unsuccessful registration request, I would like to hear from sellers who have actually completed Seller Wallet onboarding.
For sellers operating as a Sole Proprietorship:
Which business type did you select during Seller Wallet registration?
Did you choose "Privately-owned business" or "None, I am an individual"?
Was your Seller Wallet application approved successfully?
Did Amazon ever provide an official explanation for why "Sole Proprietor" is mentioned in the FAQ but not available in the dropdown?
I would appreciate any real-world experiences or guidance from sellers who have completed Seller Wallet registration.
Thank you.
