Ungated ... But Concerned There Are Zero Other FBA Sellers On This Brand ...

I was ungated to sell a popular card game - I purchased the required units (from the mfg. and not through Prime), submitted the invoice and was approved.

I recently subscribed to an Intellectual Property service and it is warning that this brand has no FBA sellers and Amazon fulfills their product too as the seller and does not share the Buy Box.

So I'm concerned.

I'm ungated for this popular game but still think the brand owner might object to FBA sellers on their listings.

Does anyone have similar experiences they'd like to share?

Does ungated mean "green light" or should I be cautious???

Thanks,

Mike

I am not sure what game it is but from our experience most card/board games on Amazon are pretty strict about reselling. We purchase from an authorized distributor but often the manufacture is not ok with resellers.

Is the brand selling themselves? Is it Amazon? If it is either of those and no other resellers its pretty safe to say you shouldn't sell it. There is a reason a popular item does not have resellers on it.

Usually if its a popular item and no one is selling it I watch the listing and wait 2-3 weeks, often either the brand or Amazon comes back in stock and it saved me from buying units and then having to sell them at a loss. Or worst case scenario not sell them at all.

If you have set up an account with the manufacturer / brand owner and that allows you to resell for your Business and on Amazon and purchased from the brand owner or brand owner's authorized wholesale distribution, whats the problem here? You have a valid supply chain

We have had a brand whom we were purchasing from their authorized wholesale distributor directed to us by the brand like this as well, and their legal department sent out counterfeit without a test buy to everyone, however we were able to use our brand invoices to fight that violation (although it took a bit of work because Amazon robots need all text and descriptions to match EXACTLY on the invoice). They did this to get rid of all the arbitragers.

The brand's listings are now on full gate for anyone but we were grandfathered in because we have a valid supply chain.

Ungated only means yellow light on Amazon if you have a valid supply chain. A brand authorization letter from the brand owner describing your business and specificially saying you're allowed to resell their products on Amazon on the authorization letter would be a "green light", however there have been cases on these forums of other sellers not getting Amazon to accept brand authorization letters (however I have never seen the letters the sellers send into Amazon so they could have been faked or lying)

So I guess based on the current state of affairs with Amazon's horrible seller support and Amazon's incorrectly trained AI, it would be a "lime green" or "chartreuse" (yellow and green mixed together) light, not fully green.
