USPS tracking message "Package Acceptance Pending"

What does the USPS tracking message: +Shipment Received, Package Acceptance Pending+ mean? This appears to be a relatively new message, and typically the shipment is stuck in that pending status for days.

Here’s an example: +Your shipment was received at 7:03 pm on January 18, 2018 in HARRISBURG, PA 17107. The acceptance of your package is pending+

As you can see this shipment has been pending for four days now and counting. If USPS has the package, why isn’t it accepted?

Perhaps you should ask USPS.

Harrisburg is a distribution center in my area also. It is a package sorting location primarily for items going south and west. I second the advice of opening a ticket and having someone at USPS reach out to a supervisor at this location. You could try to call there yourself but I have found the rarely answer the phone. If it were my package, I would find it worth the hour long phone wait to open a ticket and get an answer from someone at that location.

This usually means my carrier has scanned my EOD forms, but the individual package has not yet been scanned at a USPS facility.
