A Plea to The Mods - Brand Hijackers
This message is to the mods that manage the forums. It is evident based on the most recent posts that brand hijacking is a big problem.
Sellers, feel free to use this post to list the various issues you’ve had with brand hijacking, how long you’ve been dealing with this issue, your case numbers, the name of the hijackers, the methods you’ve taken to attempt to resolve, and confirmation of if you are brand registered or not.
Mods, I am trying to make it as easy as possible for you to track these issues. Sellers should not be made to feel hopeless when their brands name and listing details are stolen from them. Please work with these sellers and tell us how you are going to help resolve these issues.

As much as I admire your attempt to help others of our Seller Community combat the ongoing co-opting/hijacking of Brand Registered Offers upon Amazon Catalog ASINs, I am constrained to point out a pair of salient facts:
-
despite the erstwhile efforts of more than a few of the “New Year, New Voices” members of the FMT (“Forum Moderation Team”) to help in matters like these, all-available evidence would seem (at least, to me) to suggest that intervention in that matter is rather constricted from their assigned bailiwick’s purview.
-
the publicly-visible nature of most of the ASF’s (“Amazon Seller Forum”) sub-fora opens access to both the Bad Actors’ & the Ignorant Actors’ manipulations.
More than a few of the seasoned and savvy forum veterans have endeavored to ply the same course that you would appear to envision (Deb’s, Rush’s, and jclee4’s now-gone topic-threads, among others on this same subject since 2016, come readily to mind) - but I would submit that unless & until push comes to a better shove on the publicity front, our Seller Community is more likely than not to wind up finding ourselves doing little more than Quixotically-tilting at windmills.
Sigh.
All that said, I must admit that I myself am quite pleased to learn that you were NOT kidding with this “I’m going to do my best to pay if forward” post when Amazon finally got it right:
Would that more of us were willing to put forth the MOST-admirable effort that you have exemplified in creating this topic-thread here, the better-off we should all be.

We admire the attempt to centralize the issue but not sure everyone who has had it happen will see and post.
As you know, we were hijacked in October 2021 and it took until February 2022 to solve. It is apparent by reading the forums on how many have had this happen. Most either don’t know how to approach or simply get tired of fighting the fight, give up and let their listings go.
As you know first hand, we try to fight the battle and give awareness to each hijack case we stubble across. It is very time consuming but it is worth it when you get to see a positive outcome like we got to see with you.
Our thought would be to create a post that we could all bookmark that contains all of the various ways and successful strategies some of us have had in getting our own hijackings solved. As in the one theme that you and us had in common, DON’T GIVE UP … KEEP TRYING.
If we can get Amazon to enact controls and close loopholes, we know there will be those who complain … but maybe they complain because it stops them from doing the very thing that is the problem.
@Dogtamer couldn’t have said it any better.

We´ve had the same listing hijacked 3 times: the first 2 times, the hijacker was EVERENTY K. The third time it was STOPWOOFER.
What do these 3 events have in common:
All happened to the same listing (my best seller, with 5 star reviews), always when the store is on vacation mode (always less than 2 weeks of inactivity). Side note: I´m the manufacturer and only seller of the item.
Both hijackers are brand registered.
Every time, it took us almost a month to solve it, an absurd amount of case reopenings, hours of phone talking, in a frustrating attempt to convince the catalogue team that we only wanted the change reverted to what the listing originally was…not to rebrand it. (yes, were told that we can´t rebrand the ASIN, and that we´ll need to start from scratch with a new one…but the hijacker had no issue doing it!)
The first time, we were told to report a violation (a link was provided). Once we reported it, a violation was received in OUR account, for tampering with a listing information, the account was at risk of deactivation and the listing was suppressed. Again, many cases reopened, after being closed with canned, unrelated, answers, to have it finally removed and the listing reinstated. The hijacker was unharmed, still on the listing.
The second time, after having the change reverted, a “cancelled orders” attack started, and lasted for about 3 weeks. (all the available units were purchased every single time to make the stock zero, and then cancelled). Modified the max. qty per order to 1 and adjusted the inventory every hour or so to counteract it…for 3 weeks! Eventually, they gave up. Amazon wasn´t able to solve it. (apparently, unless after 3 weeks it were them that solved it, we´ll probably never know).
Being brand registered doesn´t prevent or solve this issue. Brand registry only protects you against another seller piggybacking your listing, offering your same product or using your brand on them…not taking over the listing and changing your brand to theirs. When they do it, they become the “brand owner” on your ASIN and you´ll need to “pretty please” ask him to give it back. It doesn´t matter your brand registry, as it´s no longer your brand in question.
This whole situation is really frustrating, as we all work for years to get as many reviews we can, our sales rank, just to lose it in a second to a (usually) foreign seller that just want those reviews and ranks to defraud as many customers as they can, selling their trash under a high ranked asin, and all of it, under amazon´s nose… and with obvious advantage over US sellers, as they´re able to change the ASINs info as they please.

I feel utterly lost getting anywhere in this regard. It’s outrageous and it seems we have no voice.

We see the conversation – and are researching the best way for us to seek help here. Thanks for your patience!

It would be nice if you came back and posted some updates on this issue as they evolve.
Just don’t let it go dark (unsolved) … any news will help build confidence in the forum members that we are being heard …

I’m curious to know, has anyone actually reached out to these brands the hijackers changed the listings to?…Because, I’ve seen evidence that these brands that the listings are being changed to are actually not the hijackers. They are often largely unaware of the issue and willing to work with sellers to resolve the issue from their end…The way they are changing brands, you don’t have to be the brand owner to change the name to that brand. A lot of these Chinese companies being accused here are either A) Legitimate brands that appear to be uninvolved in the hijackings or B) Shell brands set up for the sole purpose of hijacking. Just from what I’ve noticed. Consider if a hijacker changed every item in the catalog to the brand “Ford”. Would you accuse Ford of hijacking every brand In the catalog, or would you seek to find the actual seller who made the mass changes? Either way going after these brands will not solve the issue or prevent more shell brands being set up for hijacking. You need to look at the listing revision history and see who made the changes to the listings and go after those people…
