The last few listings I have bought from have shorted me almost 200’ (out of 700’) on the bubble they sent. Is this a normal business practice? Hope the buyers don’t actually measure what they get? When confronted, there was “an error in the warehouse” and they offered discounts or additional shipments. Anyone else experience this?
"Anyone else experience this?"
YES, I've ordered tape that was 110 yards and got the shorter version. The box even said the short tape but it was 'an error.'
Mistakes happen but many are 'convenient' hoping a buyer doesn't notice until it is too late.
And THEN of course, if you call them out and they are FBA Amazon will conveniently strike through your complaint and it doesn't get counted in the satisfaction rating.
Amazon is in an incestuous relationship with these FBA thieves. They get paid and then hide the problems.
I have to wonder if everyone who orders bubble wrap on Amazon is drastically shorted and they just don't know it.
When I received my order I happened to have on hand two genuine-measure rolls -- one slightly shorter than the ordered rolls, and one longer.
The received rolls were significantly smaller than my small roll and were labeled according to what I ordered -- label agrees with product page description -- just that they both lie. Big time. I did not let it slide.
The shortage isn't something like being ten feet shy on a hundred foot roll -- I mean sending out 175 feet and calling it 250 (or similar misrepresentation)
Every single bubble wrap order I've made in the last three years has been shorted by 10-40% (from all online sources). I now just calculate the cost at 80% of expected length. I actually have a marked off area in my living room to unroll and measure my purchases now. The 40% one was purchased on the Bay and was clearly undersized even on my porch after delivery. I did an immediate return after measuring, but the seller deducted 50% "because the package was opened". This was clearly a scam; you could only return the unopened roll, so you had no way to claim a shortage. So the seller either made a 40% extra profit from under-shipping or a 50% profit for nothing and getting their product back! I documented the scam and the Bay refunded the difference. I only buy from the known (minus) 20% sellers now.
Though we bought BW from AMZ during the pandemic; we usually order from Royal Mailers, based in CA's capital. They are family-owned/operated and offer "free shipping" as well, without a minimum order. If one is in the west, delivered in 2 days.
This time of year, their BW is on sale-we've never been shorted. Their packing tape is also better quality. but we just bought 36 rolls from AMZ-and will have to use the majority of it. The description said it was the same thickness/strength-but the adhesive isn't as effective.
Now I'm wondering if I was shorted. I bought mine quite some time ago. Haven't started a new roll yet. I think I will measure it just to check and see. Too late for a return, but could leave a review.
I have never received the correct amount from any seller on Amazon (Uline has always been legit). Every time I have complained and then I either return it or get a refund for what I was shorted.
Somebody else said it already here, nobody knows how to figure out what they got and/or they aren't about to unroll it and measure.
Here it is for everyone:
L= π(R² - r²)/t
where R is outer (entire) radius, r is inner (tube) radius, t is thickness of the material
Don't use bubble thickness. With BW it could be wrapped tightly or loosely, so just make sure it is consistently wrapped, then count the layers in the roll and divide that into (R-r) to get your t.
Measure the width of the BW (not all 12" BW is actually 12") and multiply by L
Presuming you measured everything in inches, divide by 12 and that's your square footage.
Anything less than what they sold you is theft. Complain, get a refund, return it and make them eat the shipping. Do something.
(Yes, do it for kraft paper too. If you have the weight of the paper, you have the thickness!)
So what are these selle… er… scammers doing? Buying huge rolls bubble, re-rolling it into smaller rolls and then reselling it as larger sized rolls?
well I learned something today. certainly wondering if its the brand I use (its uninflated bubble wrap to use with a machine.) now.
It has been previously stated that Amazon is absolutely the LAST place you would want to buy bubblewrap from! Almost every online source (eBa*, ULin*, ) is so much more cost -effective! Even a 'regular' retail purchase, right off the shelf, at most Office Supply stores, is much cheaper then anything Amazon. And you are assured to get the correct amount!
Yes. On Amazon, at least.
