With or without shipping

Are there any Amazon FBM sellers here? Could you tell me which is better: **higher product price with free shipping**, or **lower product price with shipping fee charged**? Actually, the total cost of both options is exactly the same.

The biggest plus for free shipping is simply that buyers like it.

There are a few downsides.

No flexibility on refunding (no shipping to withhold even in cases where you could)

If people often buy more than one of that item, there will be no savings for multiple items as there normally would be with charged shipping.

Free shipping wins the day even when it's calculated into your total price.

Thank you for starting this thread, @Seller_wcV6WRz5Wkov5!

Great question, and some solid points already shared here. Both approaches can work well, and the right choice often depends on your product category and buyer expectations.

A few things worth considering as you decide:

  • Featured Offer eligibility: Free shipping can factor into your competitiveness for the Featured Offer, so it's worth reviewing how other sellers in your category are pricing.
  • Search filters: Some buyers filter results by "Free Shipping," which could affect your listing's visibility.
  • Returns and refunds: As mentioned above, charging shipping separately gives you more flexibility on refund deductions when applicable.

I'd recommend testing both approaches and monitoring your conversion rates in Business Reports to see what resonates with your buyers.

If you have any questions, please let me know!

All the best,

Jameson
