Shipping adjustment is just theft
I just noticed these adjustments from usps.
I entered a package of 12x10x1 weighing 53 ounces
They adjust my shipment saying it was
12x1x10 and weighed 53 ounces.
That's BS. It doesn't matter if the package is 12x10x1 or 12x1 x10, they both have the same total volume. This is simple theft.

Every shipping adjustment I've seen originates with the carrier, so if you're being robbed, it's probably not by Amazon.
I'd be interested to hear of any cases where that isn't true.

Correct. My guess is that this adjustment was for correcting Amazon's out of date shipping prices. If that is the case Amazon wont say that, only that size and/or dimensions are wrong. You can call your local regional consumer USPS postal office and find out what the issue was....you need to leave a message.

If this adjustment was in the time period of Jan 19, 2026 to March 31, 2026, Amazon was not charging the correct USPS prices that went into effect on Jan 19, 2026. Amazon is currently adjusting for these prices as USPS has now charged Amazon for the difference. Several sellers (including us) have received emails telling us to expect these adjustment charges. The email contains the dollar amount that that individual seller should expect.
Your package dimensions and weight are probably not the issue. It could be an Amazon error in charging the wrong price up front or it could be that the package didn't meet the service that was purchased and USPS did the additional charge for the service it should have been.

Thank you for reaching out to the forums about recent USPS carrier adjustments. We understand that sellers have a lot of questions and comments about these adjustments, and we have been sharing those with our partner teams.
These charges were not applied to your account at the time of shipment due to a technical processing issue on Amazon's end. That issue has now been resolved, and the charges are being applied as part of the corrective billing cycle. The underlying charges are valid and reflect actual USPS billing data; the delay was on our side, not an indication of an error in the charge.
That is correct. The shipping rate/volume is not affected by the display order of the dimensions.
Seller Central often does not display updated information regarding carrier-audited dimensions and weight. Even if these show as matching the original label information, USPS may still have found differences in dimensions and weight and applied adjustments as a result. In addition, there are reasons besides weight/dimension differences leading to adjustments.

Thanks for that update. specifically do you mean by a "bad scan" from USPS, and did you include that information in any of your support cases?
If the package was shipped with a Media Mail label but USPS re-rated the shipment as Priority, that would account for the adjusted cost of shipping. I asked our team for additional information.

Sounds like you may be dealing with a "Contract ID" Drop (software glitch)
