🚨 [Now Closed] Ask Amazon - Get answers 1/21 about the end of FBA Commingling

🗓️ MARK YOUR CALENDARS Join us 1/21, from 8am - 5pm PDT, for a live Q&A session with members of the FBA Inbound Team about the upcoming end of commingling practices, effective March 31, 2026.

Commingling is when we fulfill customer orders using exact product matches from the closest available inventory in the Amazon fulfillment network, even if that inventory belonged to a different seller, to achieve faster delivery speeds. Now that most sellers maintain inventory levels that keep products close to customers, we can achieve fast delivery without commingling.

If you want to learn more about this change, this is your chance to ask members of the FBA Inbound Team how it affects your business, labeling, and barcodes.

📚 Key Resources: We've compiled key resources on all things commingled inventory for easy access.

💡 Submit questions below!

We’ve already received a lot of great questions on this topic, but we would love to see more!

Post all your questions below! Our partner team will be reviewing the questions that come in throughout the day (as well as those submitted in advance), and we'll do our best to respond as soon as possible during the day of the event.

In the meantime, let's keep the conversation going heading into the January 21 Q&A session!

Note: We cannot provide legal advice or otherwise interpret regulatory requirements on situations that are specific to individual sellers.

Are products sent before the deadline going to be relabeled for a fee?

Why is virtual tracking / commingled inventory not available to accounts with the "Reseller" selling role in Brand Registry. Based on the benefits "Reseller" Brand Registry roles afford, it shows a high level of trust between the brand owner and the seller. "Reseller" role even allows you to edit the Brand Store, which clearly shows the brand owner has faith in the seller they gave the "Reseller" role to maintain strict standards of quality and professionalism.

Additionally, why require FNSKU labels for all non Brand Representative sellers when Amazon can track the history and ownership of the SKU via bin location? The amount of waste virtual tracking (UPC tracking instead of FNSKU) prevents is meaningful. All of the paper labels and plastic paper backings add up. Why not afford sellers with 1,000 AHR the privilege of continuing to use UPC / virtual tracking instead of FNSKU labeling?

I request Amazon consider, at the very least, allowing "Reseller" roles within Brand Registry to continue using virtual tracking / commingled inventory.

- If I already have a SKU using Amazon Barcode, will I have to change all inventory for that SKU to stickerless inventory myself virtually, or will this be done automatically when the changes take effect?

- What if my product is physically located in FBA when the changes take effect? Will my inventory become stranded, and will I be forced to make a removal from FBA?

Why does Amazon take an item that is selling good and removes BUY BOX stopping all sales? An item can be a 300+ unit a month selling item and just .05 cents higher than the Bots say is ok BAM no sales at all which kinda reminds of Price Fixing..... For years our business shopped Amazon even paying higher prices on everything it did not matter it was simple and easy now due to all the BS Amazon dishes on sellers Amazon is last resort on making purchases.

-Will it happen all at once when Amazon just stops accepting commingled inventory shipments or gradually?

-Will sellers still need to apply X-FNSKU labels for non-comingled inventory (we heard some info at the conference that it might not be necessary anymore)?

-If labeling on the seller’s side is no longer required, how will inventory be assigned and identified per seller at Amazon’s fulfillment centers?

-What will happen to existing commingled inventory already stored at FCs - will it remain sellable or need to be converted or relabeled?

-Will the same SKU be allowed to exist in both commingled and non-commingled formats during the transition period? How long will the transition period be?

- Will there any fee changes connected with migration to non-comingling inventory

Im unsure if this is related or not, apologies if not. I appreciate the change, prioritizing brand owners, very cool.

About two months ago I started getting errors in STA on manufacturer barcoded products that have duplicate ASINs (example would be B00QZ1ML5U and B000BQW5V0, but I have hundreds of these), and am forced to use FNSKU on these. This STA error started happening about a week after you guys announced the comingled changes, so I'm guessing it's related. Is there a plan or support avenue planned to address this? If not, I have tens to hundreds of products that I can't use manufacture barcodes on because a reseller incorrectly created a listing in 2013.

Again, apologies if this is unrelated. Thanks!
