Amazon not allowing reviews from my Kickstarter customers.

I've had multiple Kickstarter backers report to me that Amazon is blocking them from reviewing my new product with the following error:

img

HOWEVER Amazon's own product review FAQ policy says they should be able to review the product.

"Can a buyer review a product not purchased on Amazon or from me? Yes, provided that the buyer meets the eligibility criteria in our Community Guidelines. They can review any product on Amazon, regardless of where they purchased that product."

I opened a support ticket last week (Case ID: 16623465471) to see if I could get this restriction removed but have gotten nowhere. Can one of the associates on here help escalate this to the appropriate team? Thank you in advance!

I don't know what Kickstarter backers are but I can imagine that Amazon considers them being something "like friends". And since reviews from friends and familiy members are not allowed they apply the same rule for "Kickstarter backers". Sounds logic and fair to me. All this sounds very close to review manipulation.

Also the average is 2-3%. 100 sales = 2 reviews. As soon as you have more it's suspicious to the AI.

So IOW, Amazon is saying that people who have a vested interest in an item are not going to be allowed to leave reviews on it.

Sounds good to me!

Hello @Seller_iiZhKa5rJ2AV5- thanks for seeking some guidance on reviews here on the seller forums, and for citing our help page which confirms that buyers who purchased a product elsewhere can still review a product, given that they meet the eligibility criteria.

You can find more information on the types of reviews we don't allow and will remove on this Amazon.com help page, which include:

  • "A review by someone who has a direct or indirect financial interest in the product.
  • A review by someone perceived to have a close personal relationship with the product's owner, author, or artist.
  • A review by the product manufacturer, posing as an unbiased shopper.
  • Multiple negative reviews for the same product from one customer.
  • A review in exchange for monetary reward.
  • A review of a game in exchange for bonus in-game credits.
  • A negative review from a seller on a competitor's product.
  • A positive review from an artist on a peer's album in exchange for receiving a positive review from them."

I also note that Kickstarter defines backers as "Backers are folks who pledge money to join creators in bringing projects to life."

Which would make it appear that Kickstarter backers may be being interpreted as having a direct or indirect financial interest in the success of a product, and our teams do state they "have a zero tolerance policy for any review designed to mislead or manipulate customers."

Have you had success in the past getting Kickstarter backers to all provide reviews on a product?

Thanks for letting me know!

Best,

Danny
