Policy violation on huge list of LEGO product.
A huge list of Lego product was just deactivated on amazon, for all sellers. The listings were just shut down.
They were shut down because: "Your listing has been found in violation of Amazon's ASIN creation policy. Sellers are responsible for making sure that the products they offer for sale are compliant with all applicable laws, regulations, and Amazon policies.
This product is no longer a valid offering from the brand and to protect the customer shopping experience, we limit the creation of new ASINs for brands enrolled in Brand Registry by sellers who are not associated with the brand owner. To learn more, refer to our ASIN Creation policy."
So amazon is just shutting down the product because what? Lego is no longer offering it?
This will be a loss of billions of dollars in revenue that will move to walmart or ebay if this is amazon policy going forward. This has to be some kind of mistake right?
Someone needs to get this in front of executive leadership before irreparable harm is done to amazon.

That's actually insane. Even if you're buying directly from the manufacturer you are obviously going to be selling products that are no longer being produced actively by the manufacturer. I get why they have this policy to some degree in beauty and grocery, but it doesn't make any sense and the other categories. This would kill at least 80% of the listings in the toy category, probably kill 90% of the listings in books. This has to be a mistake right? @SEAmod

Did you submit your written Letter of Authorization from LEGO stating that you are authorized to sell LEGO products on Amazon? That should help.
Also double check with your account rep at LEGO to verify that you are on any "whitelist" that they may have for brand-authorized sellers.

I would think, since they no longer allow RA, that if a product is out of production, you can't possibly have the required wholesaler invoices for it. You should still be able to sell as "collectors" no?

Maybe this is Amazon addressing the hypocrisy of requiring a wholesale invoice dated within the last 365 days for an out of print product that could not possible have one? I am not a fan of wholesale invoices for older product; I have stated in the past Amazon needs to have different criteria for product that CAN NOT POSSIBLY HAVE invoices dated with the last year.
In any case, I agree that this will be a big loss for Amazon; the demand for these products will not go away and sellers and buyers will just migrate to other marketplaces.
If Amazon decides that no product can be sold on their platform that does not have a valid wholesale invoice dated in the last 365 days, roughly 90% of their catalog will be gone.

Its not just Lego (though that seems to be the biggest), other sellers have noted that it seems to be a lot of discontinued items from brands like Sony, Logitech and other ASINS. They just don't want people selling discontinued items. I don't agree or disagree; that just seems to be what's happening.

In my opinion this is going to result in huge losses for Amazon as far as revenue goes. Why would a company ever wipe out their catalog just because an item is discontinued by the manufacturer?
My intial reaction is that this is the backend AI/software going rogue on them. It'll cost them hundreds of millions.

The Account Health violation issue aside (and I agree these should NOT be violations), this is a big issue for Amazon for older out of print products. For OOP over 5 years old, there is no way you can have a valid invoice dated within the last 365 days (might as well ask for a unicorn instead); for OOP items Amazon has to either remove ALL of it from the catalog or come up with a different standard for verifying authenticity.
As I have stated in the past I would be in favor of a different system (there have been many proposed) but all would require more human involvement and hence higher costs, Amazon appears unwilling to do this.
I have always felt Amazon's deep catalog was their greatest asset; getting almost anything ever made, at a reasonable cost, delivered right to your door is a powerful. Unfortunately Amazon has been systemically destroying their catalog, shame.

i had 114 of my items closed. A large amount of them were older Panasonic cordless phones and various older Sony products like headphones and CD Players. Most of them have valid upcs off the packaging and were a product the company sold.
