Read onlyI listed a product as 'generic' but need to change that to my brand.
I already have the units in the fulfilment centres (with SKU) so I cannot create a new listing.
How can I update the brand from 'generic' to my brand name please?
THANK YOU
You can't without making a new asin for the product, not something you want to do with product in fba locations. Its a huge pain in the butt since they don't bother to tell you that as they push you to brand registry with promises of how easy it will be to fix your listings once you do.
That is not possible. You have to sell out your units under the existing listing.
If you want to sell your brand instead of a generic product you have to take a new UPC from GS1 and create a new listing. Then you send these NEW products WITH brand to Amazon and your NEW listing will go alive with zero ratings and reviews.
There is NO WAY around that.
Hello @Seller_1Sp1gQjW3N8mg,
My name is Dougal from the Community Manager Team and I can certainly address your question.
@Seller_0rXAME9V4LQSx and @Seller_rI7BZIczK8iAC are correct. A brand name cannot be changed from Generic to your brand name and you can reference more via the Amazon Brand Name policy help page.
I also agree with @Seller_rI7BZIczK8iAC that you should sell through the stock that is in FBA, create the new ASIN and then send in to FBA. Another less cost efficient option is to have the inventory sent back to you, but this comes at a cost.
I am not an FBA expert, but from a listings perspective, over labeling with a new FNSKU does not solve for you either as your detail page will still show the brand is Generic and this can expose you to other errors/issues and violations.
I know this is not the answer you were looking for, but best of luck in whatever you decide and feel free to reach out with any more questions.
Best, Dougal
