Why does Amazon do this?
Had an order for a large shredder. FBM delivered in 2 parts. After the first part was delivered, the customer got confused about where the rest of the unit was and called Amazon Customer Service, asking where the other part was. Amazon offered them a full refund and said that they can just keep the item. Great... but what about the small business on the other side of that transaction? Now I am out $2,000, Safe-T claim gets auto-denied by AI with nonsensical responses. Proof of delivery, customer acknowledged receipt, doesn't matter.
What logic is this? How do other sellers sustain their business if big hits like this can come with any order?

Some products are not a good fit for Amazon due to the entitled 'buyers' that they have enabled the past couple decades.
My pain threshold for here is around the $100 mark. Others have a higher risk tolerance.
Sell elsewhere where you will get actual protection for the seller, such as eBay.
Also, I don't have a solution for Amazon allowing theft and fraud BUT if this was shipped using the USPS please report the issue to the Postal Inspectors as mail fraud. If not, report it to the carrier.
ALSO the Government has a site IC3 (Amazon will remove the link if I put it here but it’s part of the FBI for an easy search) where you can report the use of the internet for theft if it was UPS, FedEx or whatever. It is generally used to report on websites but it can be used to report buyers as well if you happen to encounter one of the Amazon scam crowd.
In all cases it at least puts the con artists into a data base for future reference by the authorities.
There's an OLD saying -- If you aren't part of the solution you are part of the problem.
PLEASE REPORT, REPORT, REPORT, REPORT.
And, DO NOT forget the Police Department where you are, as well as where the 'buyer' is!

For such valuable products, it is important to promptly contact the buyer and inform them that the product will be delivered in two parts; Otherwise, the buyer will really think that what you sent is not a usable product, but a damaged product, and I think the seller is also responsible;

Because Amazon profits doing this. Win Win for customer and Win Win on Amazon for seller fees and now customer if fully funded to repeat all over again.

You should have been WAY AHEAD of this sale. Make sure that they understood that this was coming in two shipments, wait for their acknowledgment before you ship anything. If no response, cancel the order. You failed to use basic due care. We should all be doing EVERYTHING in our control even for orders under $100. Even if all you prevent is the bad feedback for "at first I thought I was getting scammed, but then the second shipment arrived" - they write stuff like this everyday!

why would it be two shipments instead of one?
a split box shipment should still arrived at the same time in two boxes right?
did you add in your listing that it would arrive in two boxes?

Wow, what a common story. This happens to all of us. Why do they do it? Because they can and will continue to do it until all of the FBM sellers are gone. Maybe then the FBM sellers will unite and sue. Or maybe not.

I'm not so sure this is true anymore since the government is full of criminals now.
"And, DO NOT forget the Police Department where you are, as well as where the 'buyer' is! "Not to be a contrarian, as a like the idea during normal times but, the problem is NOT the buyer in this case but Amazon. Do we report amazon to the police?
Lot's to think about.
