Are Sales really this dead for everyone?
I realize we been basically in a recession for 2 years, but wow this 4th quarter is not starting off well. We are getting sales but this is certainly shaping up to be one of the worst in memory. Seems the only time a spike in sales occurs is right around the Professional account bill is near, but I'm sure that's totally coincidence....

We've been selling online for about 20 years. There is always a drop in sales when there is a government shutdown. This one is not only the longest ever, but things that in the past were considered untouchable (such as SNAP and military pay) are now facing threats.
I don't think things will get much better until the government is reopened; and even then, the lingering damage will be apparent for weeks if not months.

Last 4th Q & DEC especially were my worst in 25 years here apparently because everyone was worried about who might win the election. My sales have been up 25% for the last 4 months so I was anticipating a great comeback this year. The month started out great but has died over the last 4 days. I'm still up almost 300% over this point last November so you can see how epically bad it was then for me!
When you have 10% of flights cancelled in America and no pay for air controllers among many other things, it is eventually going to catch up to us all! If this shutdown thing could come to an end I still have optimism things can ramp up!

Inflation was nearing 2% in January and now it's back up to 3%. Grocery and energy prices are Sky High and employment numbers were dismal leading up to the shutdown so God only knows what they were for September after we learned about the losses in August.
II think people are very uncomfortable with the economy right now and are probably holding on to their money so if you sell Essentials you're probably doing okay right now... the rest of us not so much.
The end of last year was not great for me because my December sales actually were less than my November sales and I've never seen that happen before.

Besides sales, I also run a services business. 90% of all November appointments were canceled by clients....
My online store dropped about 50% over the last few weeks, but it's been crappy for the last few months. Especially since prices have nearly doubled now for what I import from Europe....the eggs in both my baskets are spoiling quickly....

Amazon boycott planned for Black Friday, and Amazon boycott planned in general and now because ICE is using Amazon warehouses don't expect people to rush to buy from Amazon. All these political issues have consequences.
The NYTimes just published a piece about a second depression because of what is going on. People have received there healthcare bills and there will NOT be money going around for purchases except essentials

It is straightforward. Tariffs and an incompetent population that politicians and the government prey upon!

Our sales are down here and our own store sites are NOT getting the traffic for our niche products either.
Tariffs at 68% are not helping our margins either.

yea sales are odd but Black Friday coming!! See what happens.

Try lowering your prices, there is no recession.
